Discovering Italy - Waterfall at the Val Vertova Torrent near Bergamo
Italy don't need to be presented by me, surely most of you already know historical towns like Roma, Firenze and Venezia and a lot of others famous places. I could spent hours listing all places, in Italy, that are famous all over the word.
As you can imagine, however, there are also others less known places to the Italians themselves, mostly frequented by those who live in the area but for that matter no less beautiful or interesting.
Today I want to show you a place where I went recently: Vertova a place not so far from the place where I live, but that I have discovered only last year.
Vertova is a little municipality in Lombardy region, more exactly in province of Bergamo located at about 15km northeast from the town.
Vertova is situated into a little valley named Val Vertova, that is one of the most picturesque corners of Seriana Valley.
Seriana Valley is the valley of Serio river, a region of Bergamo province into the mountains "Orobie Alps", that can be devided geographically in different areas following the river course.
Val Vertova is part of the median Seriana Valley (i.e. the middle of the course of the river) and it is the little valley of the torrent Vertova.
The particularity of this valley is torrent that along its path forms rapids and little waterfall, in some stretch you have to walk into the water to go ahead.
Moreover the beautiful of the places is also due to mountains and vegetation.
The mix of these 3 naturals elements: mountains, vegetation and water make this a very refreshing place and for this reason a lot of people love to stay near torrent to spent realaxing time in summer.
Me too I discovered this place searching a refreshing place in a very hot day , more then 30°C.
I spent my day sitting on the torrentside , eating fruits and vegetables for lunch and relaxing with my husband.
It is a very little paradise , we 'll come back soon.
If someone will be in Lombardia, I recommend it!
Great post! Seems like such a nice area... :)
