The Thingyan festival of Myanmar ( Steemit myanmar community)

The Myanmar are fond of festivals.They have festivals all the year round.Some are seasonal festivals and some are religious festivals. Of them, Thingyan is the most enjoyable.It falls in April.It usually lasts three days.
The Thingyan marks the death of old year and the birth of a new year.Water throwing goes on for three days. People enjoy themselves throwing water at one another.Young boys and girls go round the town in jeeps or open cars.They sing Thingyan songs and shout Thingyan thangyats.
The weather is hot but Thingyan water is cool.You are soaked in it and it is in itself a pleasure. Then, the thingyan is over.The old year is gone. It is the new year day. A new year has begun.
