Weekend trip to Italy - Part 1/5 - The historic city of Verona
Even the Aeroporto Verona is feeling Steemy by now!
I just returned from a weekend trip to Italy and took loads of pictures to share with you guys! My girlfriend @traveldict works as a travel agent and did the booking and planning for this trip. She also just signed up at Steemit and will introduce herself in the next days.
We stayed in a finca in a little village called Campagnola which is like a hour driving distance from Verona and also very close to Lake Garda. The finca belonged to an Australian guy and his Italian wife who took really good care of us and gave us lots of valuable insider information’s.
After we landed at the airport of Verona, we picked up our rental car for the next days, a cute little Fiat 500. Before we were heading to our accommondation, we stopped in Verona to explore the city for a few hours.
Verona was packed with tourists but nevertheless a very beautiful and clean place. I especially liked all the little alleyways and art.
Because the arena looked great from the outside, we decided to spend the 10€ entry fee to go inside. A total waste of money in my opinion. I expected to see a nice restored ruin but instead there were loads of installed plastic chairs with a big mainstage. Apparently they do shows there like two times a day. If you´re not there for the show, don´t bother spending your money.
We also went to see the Romeo and Juliet balcony. It was ridiculous how many tourists were there, trying to get a good shot of the balcony. At least everyone was quite friendly and no one was pushing anyone else.
After being in the big crowd, we were looking forward to head on to our home for the next 3 nights in Campagnola. The way there was already very beautiful and relaxing.
I will show you more of Campagnola in part 2/5 of my Italy trip.
Stay tuned and thank you for reading! ;-)
