We on Fiji Time 😎 Family Holidays

Fiji

We have just returned from our first family trip overseas to Fiji. Having post holiday blues i thought I would blog about our experience.

It is a beautiful little country in the South Pacific with over 300 little islands. One thing was for sure i was blown away by the friendliness of the fijians. We arrived to smiling faces and everyone saying "Bula".  As we walked through Nadi International airport there was a band consisting off 3 Fijian men singing and playing their guitars greeting everyone that had arrived.  Everyone was so relaxed and had a laid back personnel about them. They would always be quoting "relax we are on Fijian time!" Meaning chill, take it easy and go with the flow. Something I was definitely keen on.

After going back and fourth and visiting tripadvisor to see reviews we settled on staying at the Radisson Blu on Denaru Island for 6 nights. The resorts on the island were all 5 star resorts to Fijian standards. I would say for Australian standards they would be around a 4- 4.5 star.

Firstly I picked this resort as it was the most reviewed for being kid friendly and the layout of the resort.  That was my main priority because if the kids dont have fun I knew hubby and myself wouldn't.

Secondly the sizing of the rooms. The other resorts had relatively smaller rooms compared to the radisson. We got a one bedroom suite lagoon apartment that was self contained with kitchen, lounge room with a dining table and laundry facilities. We also had a balcony that overlooked the lagoon and we could see out to the waters. This was for the same price it would have been for a room at Westin, Sofitel and Hilton.

And lastly Radisson was the newest out of the 5 resorts on the island so I knew amentities would be relatively more modern.

Luckily though all the hotels were next to each other so we could go around and check out all the resorts.

There was also a bula bus which is a open aired bus that the kids absolutely loved.  You can take in all the scenary and Fiji air and warmth whilst on it. It takes you around a big loop to the resorts and to port denaru which was where the local shops and restaurants are.

While we were there we also got to visit the south sea islands for a day.  It was about an half an hour cruise from the main island. It is a gorgeous little inunhabited island with clear blue waters all around and lined with palm trees. It literally takes a few minutes to walk from one side to the other. Kids enjoyed lounging around and being able too see through the crystal clear waters.

We also got to  enjoy a 3 course candlelit dinner by the water (with the kids 😝) on one of our nights there. We arrived just on time too see the sunset. The food was delicious and very generous portions. The ambience was just amazing and so relaxing and refreshing.

Fiji is definately a good pick for a nice getaway thats only a 4 hour flight from Sydney. Will definately be coming back!

bula vinaka!

Lots of love,
