To go or not Togo ? Here's what I learned about Togo
Its useless to talk about a country if you can not even find it on the map, the Togo , where it is?
Geography Politics
The togo is in West Africa, located in the Gulf of Benin (small Gulf which is itself in the great golf of Guinea)
So to locate it well on the map it is easy to just remember that it is taller than longer.
The distance from north to south is 580 km and from east to west 100 km.
Very small country, comparable to Croatia or the left buttock of Kim Kardashian ..
The togo shares his borders with Ghana on the left, Benin on the right and finally Burkina Faso on the north
Despite its total area of 56 785 square meters, Togo is full of breathtaking scenery.
In the south it is sand and coconut
Slightly further north is the mountain range Atakora
All the way up to the north is a very large savanna.
Of course all its landscape rhyme with a very rich biodiversity
25% of the land is cultivated! (Cerale, Carite, cocoa, coffee and especially cotton!)
Malgres sa, it is not hidden the environmental wealth of the togo goes wrong, the country is based on 80% on the wood for its energy consumption, so the forest togo suffers from 41% deforestation, resulting in the disappearance of the fauna and the flora.
The sand and coconut beaches were spoken a little higher, but thanks to a pollution index of 72.13%, the beach is mostly covered with plastic waste.
Today, 85% of agricultural land is degraded,
- Chemically
- Physically
- Biologically
On the other hand, mining resources, we can say that the country overflows!
- Marble
- Oil
- Moganese
- Limestone
- Iron
- Gold
- Uranium
But it is above all , Phosphate which imposes itself as the greatest natural wealth of the country
Around 2 billion tons = $ 30 billion
(Used mostly as fertilizer.)
Demography
It is hard to give exact figures when a demography in Togo
Already there is less census and especially the situation evolves super fast!
Total population: 7.5 million people
Fertility rate = 4.5 children per woman
- 1 million Togolese more every 10 years.
- 40% of Togolese less than 15 years
- 3.3% or more than 65 years.
- Average life expectancy of 64 years.
37 Tribes in total who each have their dialects and cultures, so it's a bit complicated to summarize all
The most important:
Ewes - South of the Country
Minas - 250,000 + -
Kabyes - North Majoritere in Togo
Tems - 250,000 + - North
25% Christian
25% Muslims
50% Animism
