7 ways to travel like Jason Bourne

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

It's a dangerous business, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.

Here are a few ways to protect your brain and your nuts in our modern world according to the best of the game.

#1 Wear an expensive watch

Pick a well-known brand such as Rolex or Omega, and don't remove it, even when you sleep or shower. It's your return ticket in case everything goes wrong. You will always succeed to sell for a quarter of its price your 5000$ Rolex, to a merchant. It will be enough to afford the return trip to your safe location.

#2 Keep the most precious stuff on you

Suitcases can be open very easily even with a locker on them. Look at this demonstration. Put clothes, hygiene stuff, everything in your suitcases. But keep all data related, papers, identity, cash, precious stuff on you.

#3 Put an encrypted microSD under your watch

You will put all your ID and financial information, you can also add the access to a cryptocurrency wallet with some bitcoin, contact details to family and friends can be useful too. Some password to your bank account, cloud can be a good thing to add too, after a trauma you can have difficulties to remember passwords. Add a copy of your evacuation plan, is case you have to move away. Encrypt the card and memorize the password. Insert the SD in a small plastic bag and scotch it under your watch. Nobody will notice it, even if you fall out of a boat you will still have it with you, working.

#4 Carry 2 passports

Declare your passport stolen. Wait to receive your brand new passport. Scratch one of the two to know which is the good one. Make a high-quality paper copy of the good one. Carry this paper in your wallet. When someone asks your ID, prefer giving your paper copy, if it's not enough to give the "stolen" passport, if it's really required show you true passport.T his allow you to always keep your true passport in a safe location.

#5 Don't take your regular labtop

When a random search occurs, your computer can be opened by the security, some witnesses have reported finding back their laptop with the hard drive mounted upside down. To prevent that, dedicate a laptop to travel, store nothing on it, put only the files you need for your travel in an encrypted SD card and store it in your wallet. Especially if you are a businessman, spying occurs in an airport, hotel rooms, those things are more common than you think.

#6 Be sure to be anonymous when you access internet

Edward Snowden uses a free, super-secure version of Linux—called Tails—that fits on a USB stick and can be used on any computer without leaving a trace.

Tails is configured with special care to not use the computer's hard-disks, even if there is some swap space on them. The only storage space used by Tails is the RAM, which is automatically erased when the computer shuts down. So you won't leave any trace neither of the Tails system nor of what you did on the computer. That's why we call it "amnesic".

#7 Have a safe in the great capitals

Leave the essential in a safe location in the area you travel the most in. You can pick Los Angeles, Paris, Tokyo. The best way is to open an account and rent a safe in each location. The bank will guarantee the security of your stuff and it's accessibility. If you can't afford the bank fee, you can do the same with lockers in public location. Take the time to notice if the authority doesn't open it after some times. It's definitely less safe, prefer to use the locker's method for a shorter period.

# Bonus: Watch your step

Almost every modern city is equipped with surveillance camera all over the streets. Don't have any doubts about the facial recognition capability, it works very well. The cap under a hoodie method works well, but you will be noticed as someone hiding his face. To watch your step you can check camera's angle and emplacement on this website, great name by the way.
