Coal Mountain Resort, Argao: A retreat from the bustling city of Cebu

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

With Cebu being a booming city here in the Philippines, it is surrounded by big buildings or skyscrapers. However, what people do not know is that Cebu is also a place of relaxation and of serenity. Away from the Metropolitan Cebu, you could find places that would bring you closer to nature. One of those places would be the Coal Mountain Resort of Argao, Cebu.

Coal Mountain Resort in Argao gives you the tranquility that you have been looking for. Being hours away from the main highway, you won't be hearing any noise coming from vehicles. Instead, what you would be hearing will be from the chirping of the birds, the rustling of the leaves and the sound of the flowing water.

The resort has some breathtaking views. It was the first thing that me and my friends noticed once we arrived. It was a rainy day during our visit there so what we saw was the fog slowly moving towards us. At night, we saw a scenery that could hardly be seen in the city. The clarity of the stars and the bright lights illuminating from the fireflies paired with a few beers made our evening excellent.

Aside from the beautiful view, the resort also provides a variety of activities that would make your stay worthwhile. If you are an animal lover, the resort has a mini-zoo that houses different animals like the ostrich, rabbits, snakes, and a variety of birds. If you are a thrill-seeker, the resort also has a 16-foot deep diving pool with a diving platform that is over 30ft. However, before you are able to reach the 16-foot pool, you have to brave the canopy bridge which sways with the wind. There is also another route to the 16-foot pool and that is through riding the zip-line or the cable car.

One unique activity that can be found in this resort would be the underground tour. To explore the underground tunnel, you have to be protected by wearing the boots and helmet provided by the resort and must be with a guide to prevent getting lost. You could avail all of this with just the amount of Php. 80.00 or 1.568 US Dollars.

If you are interested to visit the resort. There are lots of ways to get there, one is through availing the transport service of the resort or you could get there on your own through riding a bus from the Cebu South Bus Terminal going to Argao (Php. 121.00/2.372 US Dollar) and then ride a 1-hour motorcycle ride to the resort(Php. 250.00/USD 4.90).
