HatYai Thailand - A short getaway
Took at quick and impromptu break from work to Hat Yai (South Thailand) from Penang (Malaysia) and discovered a pretty much changed space and development all around the city center. It has certainly brought memories since I last visited this place 15 years ago.
Traveled by chartered van and had a scare moment when the driver (a Thai) decides to stop by the Malaysian highway to avoid police stops along it. That episode was about 30 minutes long with every passenger anxious and what's installed for us. Luckily, the driver received some calls to continue the ride and off we went into the Malaysia-Thailand border after Bukit Kayu Hitam (Malaysia). Arrived at Dannok town as seen below.
Upon customs and passport checks, we were on the way to HatYai town through old village roads.
Reached pretty late in the evening and managed to capture some night scenes of the changing town.
A 20 Baht shop (where every item in it cost only 20 Baht)
And the next day, rented a bicycle (from TyroBike at Rajyindee Rd) to tour the spaces for just 200 Baht.
Still lots of preserved building and heritage amidst of development.
Some modernization of course...
And last but not least, yummy Thai food!
It was a brief break but well spent time irregardless. Good bye Hat Yai & Thailand.
Will be back!
What's your Thailand adventure like?
