travel to places not so popular

Last year me and a few female friends of mine were planning a trip somewhere out the country. This was around the same time as the Olympics so naturally we wanted to go to Brazil. After doing some research and pricing, we decided that it was not conducive to our pockets at that time. So where can we go and not end up broke? We chose Marrakesh Morocco. When we told people we were going to Morocco they all had the same response "why would you go there?" "women should't go there alone." Despite all the negativity we received from people we still went and had the time of our lives. Morocco is beautiful and inexpensive.
