Daily Snippet #4 Getting into Nepal

in #travel5 years ago (edited)

After a couple of admin tasks in the morning I treated myself to a treat of a lunch

Strangely this isn’t the first ‘sweet cafe’ in India I’ve seen that specialises in puddings. It was actually really good and far cheaper than the UK.

After a late start I was going to be cycling throughout the afternoon and into the early evening which was a change and I got to see things slightly differently.

The sun setting was nice but again, it was clear to see the pollution levels at this point.

Getting to the border was easy and the process was pretty straight forward. What wasn’t easy was finding the immigration buildings. There were no sign in English to tell you where to go (yes I know this makes me sound really entitled) which didn’t help.

Having made it through I set off for the hotel. Sadly it didn’t take card so one of the staff took me on the back of a motorbike to an ATM. Given this was my first time on a motorbike on the road ever, his erratic style of riding did little to calm my nerves.

Amazingly I was the first EVER guest at this hotel. It had been bought by a group of friends and had only just opened so I got a fantastic reception from them. Having checked in there was about 10 minutes spent on photos before I was allowed to have a shower and grab some food (I am not sure which was needed more).

Having only spent a few hours in Nepal, I am already happy I came here. It appears to be a friendlier and more welcoming place than India was and am looking forward to my next few weeks here.
