Travel with Lira: Restaurants to try in Guatemala, Antigua

Hi Steemians,

I decided to write about some of the best restaurants to visit in Guatemala. Even though Guatemala does not have an official cuisine, all the food there is very delicious.
They have it all, from fresh fruits to different international cuisines.
However I do suggest going to eat at places that have more than one customer inside, because you know that the food is probably fresh and good. In my opinion, the more busy it is the more sanitary the food is.
You should also only be drinking bottled pure water (AGUA PURE) and when it comes to tipping, its already included in your meal (propina-10%).

Let's start off with breakfast because it's the most important meal of the day as some would say! the best spot in Antigua is DONA LUISA! Loved having breakfast there, the food is fantastic, great price and awesome views of the volcanoes!

Here are some fresh fruits you can purchase at the local markets or just on the side of the road, and its super cheap, around 1-2$ USD. I had bananas, pineapples and papayas almost everyday!

TA'COOL| Our favourite, most delicious taco spot we went to in ANTIGUA, GUATEMALA. The tacos are SO delicious and super fresh! Loved all the SAUCES and the additional dressings it came on the side. My mouth is watering just reminiscing about it. Everything at this restaurant was the bomb dot com! Highly Recommended!

Our next favourite spot was MULAN, Chinese restaurant. I know what you are thinking, asian food in Guatemala? But this place was SO GOOD! We ate here almost every other night, especially after having long travel days. Probably the best Chinese food I've ever had. Their fried rice and sizzling chicken and beef are to die for. And the portions for the food are amazing for sharing. Also highly recommended, you will not be disappointed!!

TAKO BARU| If your ever in the mood for Indonesian and Indian food, this restaurant is the place to go. Their spices really hit the spot. They have all sorts of dishes ranging from curries to wraps. I personally loved the flavours as it reminded me of my moms cooking. Definitely recommended! not to mention this place is always busy, that should say something!

CHERMOL| The best spot to go to for EMPANADAS! Loved the vibe at this place and not to mention the empanada's are so delicious and fresh! We tried the BEEF (res) and BACON with cheese. Both we devious but my favourite is the beef. This place was great for the price too! And the sauces that come with the empanadas are SO GOOD especially that green one!!! Definitely recommend this place.

EL PINCHE| Another Taco spot, and I love tacos! But unfortunately I wasn't really impressed for this place. The decor and the food looked great but I didn't like how the food tasted. Compared to TA'COOL I would give this place a 5/10 and that's me being nice. I think the way they cooked the meat perhaps or the seasoning they used did not have me impressed and not to mention the prices were ridiculous for the portions. You can try this place if you want, but I suggest going to tacool, way better fresher food

The Last restaurant we tried in Antigua is called the Fonda de la Calle Real. This place was really nicely decorated and was more on the finer dining side. The prices were a bit more than other restaurants we went to but it was still nice. The food was good, portions were a bit smaller but the flavours were great.
