Visit with me #2 - A temple made of ice! Hrebienok, Slovakia
This ice attraction will have you go "brrr". Cold but beautiful.
The temple was inspired by Spanish Sagrada Familia -Roman-Catholic Basilica in Barcelona. 1440 ice blocks were used to build this ice kingdom. Together they form 190 tonnes of ice.
The Dome was built by Adam Bakoš together with a group of Slovak, Czech and Spanish sculptors and the beautiful tinted glass details were done by Achilleas Sdoukos, a glassmaker of Slovak-Greek origin (source)
The theme of this year is "tribute to family". In the very centre of the church, you can see a couple holding a baby:
Other than that, the mountain animals were also sculpted from ice - you will find here ice sculptures of bears and mountain goats.
I visited the Dome last year, too, and it had a totally different interior. It changes every year.
Also, some people decide to marry here. Hopefully, they don't get cold feet before the ceremony:D
If you decide to travel to Slovakia in winter, I would definitely recommend visiting this attraction.
