History of Hawa Mahal (Palace Of Wind) A famous Tourist Attraction Of India.

Most of us already know about Hawa Mahal also known as "Palace Of Wind" a major tourist attraction in Jaipur, if you don't know so I will provide you some general information and facts about Hawa Mahal.

Hawa Mahal is a Historical palace in Jaipur famous for its unique design and 953 windows. The palace was built by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh in 1799. Hawa Mahal was built in Rajput architecture and Mughal architecture style, and it was designed by Lal Chand Ustad.

The Mahal was built for women's of Royal family because, at that time, the woman of the Rajput family was not allowed to without a Veil On the face in front of the people.

So king thought of a constructing a palace which allows women's to see the events and festivals outside of the palace without appearing in front of the public.

Architecture

The palace is built in shape of Lord Krishna’s crown. The facade of the Hawa Mahal is structured like a beehive and it also looks like a Honeycomb.

The Hawa Mahal has 5 floors and 953 windows wichs also called jharokha. 953 windows allow cool wind to enter the palace in summers.

Because Hawa Mahal was built as part of the City Palace so it doesn't have direct entrance. one can enter from the back of the palace.

The Palace is made of Lime and red and pink sandstone and its height is 50 feet. There are no stairs in the palace, you can reach the top through the ramps.

There is also a museum inside the palace where you can know the whole history of Hawa Mahal and Rajputs lifestyle. You can Jantar Mantar from top of the palace.

One can enjoy shopping near the Hawa Mahal. There are some good shops available where you can buy jewelry, handicrafts, textile and clothes goods.

Johari Bazaar is famous for its jewelry and Chandpole Bazaar is famous for handicrafts. Kishanpole Bazaar is famous for beautiful textile goods.

While visiting Hawa Mahal make sure that you visit the palace in mooring or in the evening because the Palace looks beautiful in sunrise and sunset.
