#52: Weekend Ride To Nandi Hills
Ever wondered how it feels to walk over clouds? If yes, then visit this place and give it a try! Located around 60km away from Bangalore, India, it is one of the most sought-after weekend getaways near the city. I have already visited the place twice in the past two years. People usually go to enjoy the morning ride and then watch the sunrise over the hill. It's a place not just for bikers, but for trekkers and bicycle enthusiasts also. You can gain around 400m altitude in 7km ride!
The hilltop provides a majestic view of the earth below. If you reach early morning, chances are that the clouds would've blocked the view entirely and you actually have to wait for them to clear! Unfortunately, we were so mesmerized by the view that we forgot to capture it on camera before. The clouds were so dense that if you put your arm outside the grill bars, you just couldn't see it! Later, when it started becoming clearer I managed to click a few pics.
And when the clouds disappeared, this is what we saw:
If you are as lazy as me and might be thinking that you can take the bike almost till the end to see the view (like I thought!), then you are in for a big surprise! The trekking doesn't end at the parking spot. From there you need to start climbing up. But you'll see so many beautiful things on the way which will make you forget all about the slope. In the morning, it'll be full of fog and you'll barely be able to see the person walking ahead of you.
This is the entrance from where you need to start:
After this you'll keep coming across amazing views. On the way, you'll find tree-houses, gardens and monkeys!! Lots of them too. If you are planning on taking food along, be careful. They'll just take a minute to show you whose the boss around the area!
Next up, there are stairs which doesn't seem to end! With trees and greenery on either side, it makes the walk worthwhile. Alongside you'll find lots of tree houses. You can actually climb into them and relive childhood memories :)
It's also a favorite among kite-enthusiasts. Beautiful, colorful kites can be seen all over the place.
It's a must-visit spot for anyone who visits Bangalore. Words can't define the breath-taking view which you'll get to witness here. Reach the top, enjoy the sight and forget all about your worries while you're up there. Don't forget to capture the moments though :)
Cheers!
