Can you travel with friends?

From my experience, I’ve lost two good friends because I travelled with them. With some people, it’s hard to know whether they are going to be a good traveler based on your friendship, with others, it's obvious. It all depends.

In my instances, I had pretty good friendships with both of the girls I travelled with. I had no idea that I would no longer be friends with them after an experience that was supposed to be fun for both of us ended up being extremely painful.

So how do you know if you can travel with a friend? Well, regardless of your experience with travel, start with a road trip. The biggest factors that make someone hard to travel with is lack of flexibility and adaptability. You have to be able to brush off the small things if you travel, you have to be able to be pleasant and kind even when you are hungry or tired. Even if you are exhausted, you still have to problem solve if you can't figure out where your airbnb is or how to figure out the transportation system wherever you are.

Because that's just how it is.

Maybe some people can be your friend but not go on a trip with you. And that's ok.

For me, I still have my best friend, who is a great traveler, she even had her wallet stolen when we were in Japan and handled it extremely well. It was amazing.

I traveled with a now former friend recently and she yelled at me in the airport because she couldn't take a nap.

It's all about perspective.

I enjoy spontaneity with my trips and exciting adventures, I hope to travel with my best friend more in the future, and hopefully one day find another travel partner that loves adventures just as much as I do! :)
