With our rental car, it was easy to get around the island. It was not the most convenient car to drive in the mountains but we had no problem.
We visited the interior of the island of Gran Canaria, with its mountainous and volcanic scenery breathtaking. I stopped every 10 minutes to take pictures so everything was beautiful! The first village we stopped in was Fataga.
Fataga, known as the Valley of 1000 Palms, is a small village in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana.

Our first stop was in the "Finca Canarias Fataga".

With over 40,000 square meters, Finca Canarias Fataga has 20,000 aloe vera plants of Aloe Vera Barbadensis Miller type.

There are more than 200 Aloe varieties but only three or four of them have properties. Aloe Vera Barbadensis Miller is one of them and it is the variety that has the most properties for the body and the skin.

This plant, once extracted can treat:
Acne, allergies, arthritis, osteoarthritis and rheumatism, asthma, diseases of the eyes, cellulite, cholesterol and diseases of the cardiovascular system, diabetes (1 and 2), colitis, gynecological affections, gastritis and transit and digestion problems, hair diseases and conditions of the skin, hairy, hemorrhoids, skin spots, skin lesions, hepatitis, heart and immune diseases, impotence, insect bites, sciatica, varicose veins, stomach ulcers, oral medicine and odontology, neuritis, very dry or sensitive skin, ulcerated feet / legs, rheumatism, abrasions and wounds, protection against UV rays and tissue repair, stretch marks and other skin diseases such as eczema or psoriasis, sinusitis, stress and anxiety , sunburn, burns, dislocations, duodenal ulcers, sleep disorders.

It's amazing, isn't it?

It can be found in the form of gel, milk, juice, capsules, lotions, creams, drinks.

Tip: check that there is at least 99% Aloe Vera in the product you buy! Otherwise, it is diluted and it loses all its properties.

This Finca is located in a natural environment with the added value of exceptional landscapes, adjoining the Ayagaures and Pilancones Natural Park.

After this visit and the purchase of our baby Aloe I presented yesterday, we continued our exploration to the village of Fataga.

Fataga is a small typical Canarian village with terracotta tiles, palm trees, wooden balconies and fertile soils make the evocative landscapes of the Fataga Valley a unique setting. San Jose is the only church in the village.

We walked in the quiet little streets of the village enjoying apricots bought from a street vendor.

It seems that it is possible to take camel rides in the valley, but we have not tested. We had a long way to go ...

The next stop was San Bartolome de Tirajana.

We stopped in a beautiful park near the Tirajana Bodega. It was too hot to taste wine so we went for it. The park was filled with species of trees and flowers that we did not know! I took the opportunity to make pretty pictures like these.

Then we went to enjoy local dishes in a restaurant with a breathtaking view of the mountain!

20180617_152437-01.jpeg

We tasted a specialty called "Papas arrugadas". These are potatoes cooked with the skin and with a lot of salt so that when they are ready, and once the excess water is removed, a crust of salt remains on the skin. If you do not like salty dishes, I do not recommend! = D

We also tasted the "pimientos del padrón", the garlic bread and the olives. We also have some in Catalonia and I love it!

After this good lunch we continued our journey.

Next step: Santa Lucía

I think it is the village that I preferred! Here is his beautiful church and its many sculptures that can be seen everywhere in the village and around. I really like the mix of art and nature!

Our last stop was Aguïmes.

We had been told that we should not miss this village with houses dug directly into the cliff. Indeed, it is an incredible place!

There are traditional Canarian cave homes built on the side of the cliff face. On the other side of the road there is a stream which we crossed to find wildflowers, cacti and lots of lizards.

Here is a restaurant known throughout the island called El Centro. He is built into the cave but I did not find him very pretty personally. I prefer a restaurant with an aerial view, but it's only my point of view =).

After this fabulous day, we returned to the hotel, took a quick shower and went to Maspalomas to meet @cauac and @kilianparadise!

It was a great moment! If you want to know more, I suggest you click this link:
