Mount Semeru Indonesia, (the dream mountain of climbers)

 

OVERVIEW Mount Semeru is the highest mountain in Java Island. This mountain is a volcanic volcano that is still active. The height of this mountain is 3676 meters above sea level and is included in the area of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS). In general to climb this mountain, we can start from the Ranupane village. And to reach the peak of Semeru from Ranupane can take 2 days. The spots of beauty in this famous mountain is Ranukombolo Lake and Mahameru peak.

TO RANUPANE If you are from Surabaya City, you can directly rent a car to go to Tumpang Regency at Malang City. In Tumpang, many Car 4 Wheel Drive operators who can take you to Ranupane. From Surabaya to Tumpang takes about 3-4 hours without traffic jam. And from Tumpang to Ranupane Village takes about 4 hours.

ADMINISTRATION You need to prepare some administrative drafts to get access to climb Mount Semeru. Among others :

1. Health Certificate

2. Stamp 6000

3. Photocopy of Identity (Passport for Foreign)

4. Fill out the luggage list form

5. Paid the ticket

DAY 1 The first day trip, you can target camp at Kalimati Savana. By leaving as early as possible from Ranupane and the estimated travel time of 7-8 hours you can reach Kalimati at 5 pm. Then rest in Kalimati, in this camp there is a water source with a distance of about 1 km named Sumbermani.

Ranukombolo

The field is quite sloping and clear enough. In the middle of the journey you will find an exotic camp place that is Ranukombolo Lake. Ranukombolo is a large lake in the area of  Mount Semeru. Usually climbers add 1 day trip to build Camp in this place, so the trip became 3 days. In Ranukombolo you can have lunch and continue the trip to Kalimati. After that there is a hill called the rise of love. The steep incline has its own myth. If you climb this hill without stopping and looking back, then at the end or peak of hill you shout the name of the person that you love, then your love will be accepted. But this is a myth, believe it or not it depends on you. Done from the climb of love, you will find a field of flowers called Oro-oro Ombo. If in the rainy season, this field looks very beautiful because the flowers are blooming.

DAY 2 The Summit Attack in Mount Semeru is done at dawn. You should start the journey to the peak from Kalimati at 01.00. That way, we can see landscape of beautiful sunrise moment at the top. Medan to the top is a scrambling. Until the limit of Vegetation (Cemoro Tunggal) you will find a very sandy climb, so it is quite difficult to climb it. The wind here is quite fast, sometimes many climbers who fell sleepy and sometimes sleep on the climbing route. Iam advise you, never to do this, coz its dangerous. Travel to the summit takes 4-5 hours from Kalimati camp with normal physical condition. Be careful of the possibility of storms, it is suggested that you bring a barometer or at least have enough knowledge to read the weather. From the summit you can directly go down to Ranupane with the same path or add another day to spend the night in Ranukombolo. And in Ranupane you will be picked up by the same car or you can ride in another car depending on your initial negotiation.
