Lisbon - It's worth getting lost there!

in #travel7 years ago

Quirky little streets. A lot of squares with monuments. Restaurants with great ambiance. What more could you want?

When I was walking through the Lisbon, I could observe local people's life, their customs, ways that they behave daily. It was worth to see as well as better than staying at the hotel. You know, you can not only see their feelings and problems but also their kindness and peace.

As I said, it's worth getting lost there, I did it first day and I don't regret! I was hanging out around the streets and I could feel the city. Each and every street are different. You would never know what you might come across!

If it comes to a public transport, there are 4 metro lines and a lot of trams, buses, railway and city lifts. If you decide to go there, you will have to try travelling by tram 28 definitely! But you have to be careful! There are a lot of pickpockets there!

Of course, I have to give you some info about food! So when I was in Belem ( one of the most famous district) , I had to visit the most popular and the oldest cafe, called Pasteis de Belem. You can try a pasteis de nata - their special cupcakes. It is delicious, seriously. But you have to be patient - there are a big queues there. Moreover, I would recommend eating in restaurants near little streets, not near main squares. The ambiance is much better as well as dishes and service staff.
They serve a delicious seafood, kinds of cheese, and of course - Porto ( theit local wine).

On a west coast, you can see the longest bridge in Europe - Vasco da Gama which connect the Orient district with Montijo situated on the other side of the Tag river. It has about 17 kilometers! It took 3 years to build it. To be honest, it is worth to see whole district because it is the most modern part of Lisbon with a lot of skyscrapers, green areas and shopping malls.

There is a sunset over the Carvacelos coast. Near the most beatiful beach, there are a lot of residences and mansions with green areas and palm trees. It looks amazing. People stop their cars to watch sunsets there. When I was walking along the coast, there was a storm on the ocean. Waves were enormous, really!

I would say that I fell in love with this city. I have never try this kind of travelling before, when you stay at the hostel and walking whole day till night. You should try this, mostly in Lisbon and Portugal in general. I assure that you wouldn't regret!

Remember, travels broadens the mind!
