The Malta Tourism Authority is looking to pay people money to visit the region. For each traveler who is booking a three night stay at select hotels in Malta, they could get paid up to €200 for the vacation. They are putting forth the program in an effort to try and bring tourism back to the region.

Tourism in Malta has decreased significantly, air travel down more than 90 per cent and inbound tourism to Malta has plummeted.

They need to think of something that might entice people back to the region and paying travelers is one way to try and get them there.

For many people though they are still prevented from travel if they are not engaging in travel for essential reasons. Especially for those who don't have their vaccine yet or who aren't getting it, they cannot up and leave to go on vacation anywhere they want right now, there might be certain COVID-19 restrictions still in place.

Millions of tourists will usually visit Malta throughout the year, in 2019 they welcomed more than 2 million arrivals to the region. All of that changed when the pandemic hit though and they are still suffering, as many tourism industries are still around the world. International travel might not ever get back to the levels we saw before, if a new vaccine passport is required. And if it does without that change, a vaccine passport being required for example, it still might take years to get there.

Hotels, cafes, and other businesses around Malta suffer in the meantime so long as the international arrives are down.

Get Paid to Visit Malta This Summer

For those who are open to visiting Malta this summer they could take that opportunity to get paid up to 200 euros but they need to stay for at least 3 days.

"The scheme is aimed at putting Malta's hotels in a very competitive position as international tourism restarts,"

Their travel and tourism industry accounts for more than 20 per cent of Malta's economy and they want to find a way to attract those tourists back to the region. Those staying in Malta at select hotels, between 3 to 5 star resorts, will be paid on a scale. For example, those booking 5 star property stays would get more reimbursed than those who were booking a stay with a 4 star property.

The Malta Tourism Authority will be paying out the money to travelers, and hotels will also be doubling down on that too. Altogether this is helping to increase the potential of earning money to around 200 euros for those who take advantage of the opportunity to get paid to visit Malta. The program is reportedly going to start to be available for travel dates starting in June.

Malta is going to be allocating millions of dollars to this new travel incentive, which they expect to benefit tens of thousands of visitors.
