RE: Escaping LAX for a day: Bus roulette and vegan restaurants

in #travel5 years ago

From what my googling skills tell me, the percentage of homeless in Australia is actually higher than that of the U.S. (both well under 0.5 percent) but I don't know how close the official definitions are in each country. However, the population of California alone is greater than the entire country of Australia and Los Angeles is one of the most populous cities in the world. Also, the homeless problem in California is worse than any other place in the U.S. due to the insane cost of living there, especially housing costs, which is largely due to poor state government policies but that's another conversation. California has about 10% of the population of the U.S. but 25% of the homeless population.

Anyway, I'll be stuck at LAX for about 17 hours on my way home a little over a day from now. I'm traveling alone and I generally prefer my adventures shared with another. However, the idea of seeing a little bit of L.A. does have some appeal over wandering around LAX which is all I've seen of California so far.
