8 hours in Verona

in #travel7 years ago

Every city in Italy, every town, every village has its own style, a spirit. Even if the distances are very short, you can not believe architecture, gastronomy, and cultural change when you go from one place to another (which mean distances are within an hour of a train journey).

If you have visited Milan, Verona and Venice, which are very close to each other, you can really understand what I mean. In my previous article I wrote 14 things you need to do in Milan . Our stop is Verona.

What do you say to a city that is not among my plans to stay as one of the places that I have in my mind after I have traveled? I can say that Verona's beauty and sincerity is totally surprising for me. This city, which is aesthetic in every sense between Milan and Venice and I have only 8 hours in total, is a must for you to add your travel route. Art, history, nature and shopping; they all have so much in this country.

After fifteen minutes of walking out of the train station, you will be greeted by an hour-old historic gate, opposite the Bra Square (the city's largest), and to the left a delightful café and restaurants. Although not as big as the Colosseum in Rome, the "Arena", which influences you with its historic structure and glory, hosts the most important opera festival in the world, organized every summer at the beginning of the summer. (The Arena is open every day from 08:30 to 19:30 and the entrance fee is 10 Euro.)

Verona is not limited to these places. Erbe Square, where there are quite crowded restaurants under each house, others are the most important beauty of Castellvecchio which means it is five minutes walking distance from here and dividing the city into two, Italy's second largest river of Ady and Turkish Old Castle. Teatro Romano (historical antique theater) is one of the most important tourist attractions in the city.

Verona's biggest feature on the UNESCO World Heritage list is a love city at the same time. The immortal story of William Shakespeare is Giulietta's House (Juliet's House) by Romeo and Juliet; It is in a side street near Erbe Square. You can easily find it in Verona because there is no such thing as meeting a crowd of people on a side street. There are already dozens of signs on the walls that lead you here. Every year tens of thousands of tourists visit this four-story museum in Verona to see that balcony Juliet expects Romeo. The most interesting event of this museum, which you can travel for 6 euros and is full of Juliet's special items, is in my garden.

Gnoochi (potato pasta) you will eat anywhere in Verona where I have not been able to do extensive research in the sense of eating and drinking for a very short time, very good quality wines, excellent quality, delicious pizzas, delicious cannoli I can say with pleasure that the tiramisu will be extraordinary. In this sense, the places in Bra Square are a bit more touristy than Erbe Square; so I would also suggest that you should choose Erbe Square for food.

If you are going to stay in Verona like me for a short while, you can also choose CitySightSeeing, a red-light bus company that is open to the public for a healthier and more efficient walk around the city. Per person rate: 20 Euro.

In the meantime, you can easily get all your train tickets in Italy from trenitalia.com. Remember, you will always be more profitable if you buy tickets in advance. (I paid 15 Euros for the Milan-Verona ticket, which lasts for 1 hour in total).
