The recently created National Park of Chicamocha (also known as PANACHI) is one of the few natural parks of Colombia dedicated to ecotourism, being therefore one of the most important tourist sites of the country. It was opened to the public on Saturday, December 2, 2006.
Description
The park is located on the Bucaramanga - San Gil road, 54 km from the capital of the department of Santander and 39 km from San Gil, being jurisdiction of the municipality of Aratoca, has been built on the Chicamocha Canyon, taking advantage of its natural and Historical. Its extension is of 264 hectares.
The Park comprises an urban complex formed by different elements and places that represent the culture of Santander.
Things to Do
Cableway:
The Chicamocha Cable Car is one of the park's most visited attractions. Cross the Chicamocha Canyon starting from the park in Aratoca to the Mesa de los Santos.
tirolin:
It is one of the biggest attractions in the Park. There are three cable flights in total. The First and oldest is located in the back of the Park and allows to admire the whole canyon and the river Chicamocha, has 450 m; The second is the glider flight, it is shorter but with more vertigo and emotion and the last is the flight children.
Jumping:
Device in which the person is suspended with a harness and elastic cords to later be thrown up. It reaches 7 meters in height. Adults and children can enjoy it.
Parapente:
A trip in parapente about 1500 m of height that with the conditions of the place, has no comparison. You must schedule in advance the flight that can be done between 9 am and 12 noon.
This tourist park is the splendid place, Maybe one day I'll ride the tirolin and the paragliding.
The canotaje is also very good, it is well-known for the rapid flows of rivers in this region of the park
