The hill of Guadalupe is one of the most remarkable eastern hills of Bogota. Next to Monserrate is known as one of the tutelary hills of the city, located between the city and the paramo of Cruz Verde.

Located to the east of the city, it has a height of 3,260 msnm. At the top of the hill stands a statue of 15 meters high made by the sculptor Gustavo Arcila Uribe in 1946 and a small chapel consecrated to Our Lady of Guadalupe, 1 as well as a viewpoint, from where you can see an imposing view of the city.
History
Some indigenous people say that the hill of Monserrate was called 'foot of grandfather' and Guadalupe 'foot of grandmother'. The first building of the hermitage dates from 1656. The hermitage was consecrated to Our Lady of Guadalupe on a pilgrimage attended by the principal ecclesiastical and civil authorities on September 8, 1656.2 The small chapel was successively destroyed in the earthquakes 13 of October of 1743, 15 of July of 1785 and 17 of June of 1826, soon was reconstructed during the government of Tomás Cipriano de Mosquera and affected again by the earthquake of 31 of August of 1917, after the last one remained destroyed For several decades.
On October 12, 1945, Monsignor Jorge Murcia Riaño rebuilt the hermitage and was blessed by Archbishop Ismael Perdomo. A year later the statue was erected on top of the hill, the work of the sculptor Gustavo Arcila Uribe, which really corresponds to the "Virgin Mary Immaculate", patroness of the Archdiocese of Bogota. In 1967 the priest Luis Jiménez constructed the highway that communicates until the hill.
The construction of a new sanctuary is currently under way, 3 whose first stage was the settlement of the road and the relocation of kiosks for food vendors and religious articles.
