My band's headed to Alaska to play a music festival!

in #travel8 years ago

Hey all!
My band The Little Fuller Band is headed to Alaska for our first time for Salmonfest! A music festival that also serves as a fundraiser for the Kachemak Bay Conservation Society.

-If you squint you can see us on the flyer!

From their website: "Salmonfest has become widely recognized both nationally and within the state as the most compelling and dynamic event in Alaska. Every year over 6,000 people turn the Kenai Peninsula village of Ninilchik into a city as families and friends fill the region with encampments full of music, food, fish and love. Over the three day weekend many of Alaska’s top food, crafts, art and brews are available throughout the grounds and a family friendly atmosphere, including a daily children’s program is part of the four stage extravaganza that includes over 50 acts.

With Salmonfest, we wish to emphasize and celebrate the connection of all Alaskans to the fish and the waters that provide this magnificent resource. We urge everyone from all over the state, and entire country, to come together for this Salmonfest weekend, and find camaraderie in the issues that unite us and put aside the things that divide us. Together let’s continue to move forward and celebrate wild Alaska in a weekend of Fish, Love and Music!

Salmonfest is supported by and benefits The Kachemak Bay Conservation Society. KBCS is a longstanding Homer-based non profit organization that seek to educate the public, and both protect and promote Alaska’s fish-filled waters."

I've never been to Alaska myself either. Anyone got any good tips or suggestions on places to check out? We'll be driving from Anchorage to the Kenai peninsula and posting up in a small town called Ninilchik.

I'll have a follow up posts with pictures and stories of our adventures soon!!
