Krem Puri, Meghalaya, India
The world's longest sandstone cave named Krem Puri was recently discovered in Meghalaya. It has a staggering length of 24.5 km, almost three times the height of Mount Everest, and contains some dinosaur fossils from 66-76 million years ago as well.
'Krem' means 'cave' in Khasi language. The cave system which is 24,583 metres long was discovered in near Laitsohum village, located in the Mawsynram area in Meghalaya's East Khasi Hills district.
The cave is a must-go place in Meghalagy. The cave at times become steep and narrow, you get adequate light thanks to artificial lamps set at appropriate places.
Cameras are allowed and there are many opportunities for a variety of clicks all through the cave.
The unique thing here is the continuous sprinkles of water that drops from the outside, so be careful in taking photos without getting your lens wet.
In addition, at some point you need to literally crawl to move ahead, and at some point you need to push hard to climb the slippery rocky path. Make sure you wear some light casual dress.
The lush greenery outside the cave is a visual treat for any human on Earth. Best enjoyed, when you go with your family or a group of friends!
For elderly people it's a suggestion to ask local people to help in taking decision whether to go for it or not as they will guide you correctly after observing your knees.
And it's better to take one local guide to take you to avoid getting lost on the way.
