The Terrible Travellers: Moscow (Day 2)steemCreated with Sketch.

in #travel7 years ago

Today has been a long day for us, out since 9am and returning around 7pm. We changed our original plan of visiting the Kremlin as the queues were just too big. Now we know where to buy our tickets we will be prepared for action tomorrow! We have also started tracking our steps just out of interest and today we hit 29000 steps which is appropriately 22km.

All this being said, today's post will be shorter than usual. We will make up for it with some (hopefully) amazing photos tomorrow.

To start with, this is Eva and I, early morning, still half asleep! This was in a small market where the Russian dolls and Soviet style hats and other merchandise were abundant. We do want to buy some souvenirs but the high pressure selling situations are not our cup of tea, so we make like a tree and leave! An interesting sight in the market was this bear rug. Real or not, we aren't sure, but we are in Russia!

We grabbed some food from a place we had noted the night previous, as the line to get in was spilling out of the door. It turned out to be a really efficient burger restaurant, which sold beer....thankfully. We had to laugh at the menu, seeing the meat described as 'Aberdeen black Angus' so we had to take a picture.

Not very interesting we know but it was funny to see what gets lost (or gained) in translation.

We headed to Gorky Park. After taking a wrong turn, we walked into what we thought was a hotel car park, hoping to reach the park. We could see it, but fence between us was just to high to climb! After an old man and women shouted at us, what we could only think was something like-'stupid tourists' they let us through a gate and we were in.
The park was a lovely sight and our feet were happy for a rest.

After nearly falling asleep and worrying about sunburn, we left to explore the underground stations as we had enjoyed this so much in St Petersburg. It did not disappoint.

We come out of the metro on our way home and we are immediately greeted with the sight of Bolshoi Theatre.

We wish we could see something while we are here but it unfortunately, will not be possible.
On that, we are early to bed, for another early rise!
A little bonus pic of some soviet graffiti.
