The Erawan Museum

For this trip we went to “The Erawan Museum” that is located in Samut Prakan Province Thailand. It is Know for it’s giant three headed elephant. The Massive Elephant stands 29 meters high and stands on a 15 meter high pedestal with 2 floor and the 3 floor is inside the belly of the elephant.

The inside of the museum is modeled after the Hindu representation of the universe, which consist of the underworld 1 st floor, Earth 2nd floor and the 3 floor that is in the belly of the elephant represents Heaven.

The Erawan Museum is the door opening to the heritage of Thai culture. With a wide range of architectural symbols, fine arts and craftsmanship, structural layout and natural environment that integrate harmoniously.

The Museum creates a kind of atmosphere that induces visitor to perceive and appreciate the continuity of history, cultures, religions, arts and customs of faith from the past.

The Museum is built from the inspiration of Mr. Lek Viriyaphant creator of the Ancient City and the Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya City, to provide a storage place for artifacts and heritage conservation areas and continue to preserve traced artwork.
Looming through the museum, as conspicuous as the elephant, is a surreal feeling. As you explore the Museum, you seem at every turn to be wandering through the dreams of its creator.

How to get there :

Go to the nearest BTS Station and take it to Bearing Station , from there you take a Taxi for a very short trip, if you are on the MRT line take it to Asok Station and go up to the sky Train ( BTS ) and go to Bearing Station. The entrance ticket is 50 baht.
