A Little Tour In and Around Calamba, Misamis Occidental [1/2]
Last July 2016, I had a little tour around my Hubby's hometown at Calamba, Misamis Occidental, Philippines. And I got to bond with my in-laws for the very first time as Sumbalan. We stayed at his sister's humble abode though you can see it's not finished yet. Nevertheless, we had a great stay.
I like buko so much, so hubby prepared it for me but he didn't climb the tree. We ate it and drank its juice for free during our stay because in Iligan it's for sale.Isn't my "BUKO MAN" so handsome? I so love the barrio life because we get to experience these.
The very reason why we had this vacation is the beach! Unlike Iligan, they have white beach. Sunrise Beach is located in Baliangao, a 15-20 minute ride from Calamba. They say the place is the "unspoiled Boracay of Misamis Occidental". I strongly agree as I have been there and saw it with my very eyes. Though this was my second time. The first was when we had our youth retreat and were just friends with hubby. Also, the place is well maintained and is clean now.
A little trivia about the beach: It has plenty of sea urchins. Watch out for one, you might get stung. And few just know about the place.
Our lunch was made more special with shells fresh from the beach. For only 45 pesos, we had two cups of different sized shells in a plastic - it was already cooked. And it really tasted great with vinegar and some chilis, too. The big ones are more delicious though you might think of it as disgusting at first. 'Twas the first time I ate shells, to be honest.
Our day didn't end there. After our siesta with a little chitchat and some picture taking, we went to another destination. On my next post, we had two more stopovers. Hope you had fun reading!
P.S. Here's a sneak peek to our next destination. And if you happen to visit Calamba, please go to these places and have a little adventure. You might miss half of your life.
