📌Bosphorus - the location of the two continents and two seas
Bosphorus is a place that divides the European part of Turkey (Rumelia) from its Asian part (Anadolia), linking the Marble Sea, in the south, with the Black Sea, in the north. Bosphorus is actually a river valley that has long been sunk, steep rocky coastlines. On it lie many bays, and on the largest of them, the Golden Horn, lies Istanbul, a metropolis with more than 15 million inhabitants (2017). The length is 32 km. The nearest part is between the two fortresses on the opposite shores, Rumeli and Anadolu (660 meters), while the widest part is at its northern mouth (3700 meters). The depth varies between 50 and 120 meters, and it flows through two currents: surface, north to south, speeds of 4.5 km per hour and deep, opposite from the first, large salinity. In this natural channel, the warm water of the Marble Sea is mixed with cold currents coming from the Black Sea.

The coasts are densely populated by both sides. Today there are three bridges over Bosporus. The first is the "Bosphorus Bridge", it was built in 1973 and it is 1074 m long. The second bridge was built in 1988 and it is the bridge of Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror, 1090 meters in length. The third bridge is the Sultan Selim bridge. It is the widest bridge in the world, and also the longest hanging bridge that has a rail system. The total length of the bridge is 2.1 km, width 59 m. The bridge has 8 traffic lanes and two tracks.
