In this post, I'm going to talk a city called Bandung, which is located in Indonesia. This isn't the city where I was born at, but this is the city I've been living for around 15 years.

Bandung

is really famous for its great atmosphere. This is why almost every weekend, many people from Jakarta comes here to eat, shop, or jut hangout. Not just from Jakarta, many people from all around Indonesia want to come here. Why? Here are some facts about Bandung

The Name

Bandung itself got the name from the word, bendung which is associated with bendungan. Bendungan itself means a dam. This was because once, a super volcano named Tangkuban Perahu spew out its lava, and made a dam in Citarum River. Now, Tangkuban Perahu itself becomes one of the most visited tourist attraction in Lembang. Beside, Bandung itself looks like a dam now, because the city is surrounded by mountains. If you search on google, or look up to google maps, you can see by yourself that the city is surrounded by mountains. This is true, even if I go to Jakarta, the highway will go between or through some mountains.

The Food

Bandung is famous for its food too. From the cheapest to the most luxury, all kind of food is available here. You want to eat at a fancy restaurant? Go on. You want to eat in a café with a nice view? Go on. You want to eat cheap street food? Go on. All kind of food is available here. The restaurants don't only offer food from Bandung, some restaurants offer food from all over Indonesia too. Even the western culinary is available in some places. Here are some pictures of the local food:

Lotek

Lotek is actually a healthy meal. I think it's heaven for vegetarians (even for non-vegetarian like me) out there. It's made only from vegetables like bean sprout, water spinach, tofu, seasoned with peanut sauce. It's a healthy meal. Sometimes it's topped with some crackers too.

Shopping

It is very common for tourist to actually shop here in Bandung. People shop here either because there are always a cheap product with great quality, or they can choose from a range of products. We have like places for each product produced. Here are some example:

Cibaduyut is the birthplace of shoes in Bandung. Is your wallet empty? You still can buy shoes here. You want fancy shoes? We got some export quality too; that's because Cibaduyut also export many of its shoes to many countries. I guarantee you won't only buy one pair here.

Cihampelas is one of the most iconic place in Bandung. It is a street full of factory outlets, where you can find clothes within various prices. The theme is also super heroes like in the images above. There is also a new skywalk where the street food are placed by the mayor so the road below won't be crowded by people walking on the streets rather than the pedestrian walkway.
