Travels with Teddy--Introduction
A few years ago my buddy Kyle gave me the gift of a 12" paper cutout of Teddy Roosevelt. The Museum of Natural History was holding a photo contest. Theodore Roosevelt, along with naturalist John Muir, helped establish the National Park system in the US and the best photo of paper Teddy in a National Park would win. By the time I got my photos developed the contest was over, but the idea of photographing Teddy in National Parks stuck with me. I've since had him laminated and he travels with me around the world. I photograph him not only in US National Parks, but in National Parks, Forests, Monuments, and Historic Sites around the world. And so begins my series: Travels with Teddy!
I begin at the beginning. Teddy was gifted to me on the way to Costa Rica. And so, the first few photos are from there. Not the greatest photos as I was still learning how to photgraph him. This one came from the backyard of our place there. Shot on a horrible digital camera that my grandmother gave me, had to be one of the first consumer digital cameras on the market, focus was definitely an issue! But, I do love the iguana in the background.

photo isnt too bad. I like the concept of bringing teddy to each protected area you visit. Though how do you explain the current US administration reducing park coverage?
The current US administration has no concept of the long run in terms of nature. If there's future potential for oil, farming, ranching, any profitable venture, the current administration wants to keep that in their pocket. Trump is no Teddy Roosevelt. Hopefully things change the next go around election wise!
Looking forward to Teddy's adventures! upvoted
