Mexico

A world of its own!

Towards the end of 2016 I decided to stop everything I was doing and move from Cape Town (South Africa) all the way to Mexico City (Mexico). Two vastly different places, both having its beauties and problems. But there is one thing that is certain, if you haven't visited Mexico City yet, it is time for you to start planning your next trip. An adventure of huge diversity and great experience awaits you.

While I could go on and on talking about Mexico City, I decided to keep it short and straight forward. I came across a great article from @mexcation, which inspired me to add towards the list. The article with the top places to visit can be found towards the end.

Teotihuacan

Teotihuacan is one of the most prominent and important ancient cities of all time. It is located about 45km north-east to the city center of Mexico City. It is a breathtaking view and you are able to walk up both of the biggest pyramids, the Pyramid of the Sun and Pyramid of the Moon. You are able to visit Teotihuacan on your own, but I recommend getting a tour guide. The tour guide will be able to tell you many stories about the history of Teotihuacan, having been one of the biggest cities in the world at its population peak with around 200,000 inhabitants.

Estadio Azteca

Estadio Azteca is a football stadium located at the south of Mexico City. With around 87,000 seats it is the biggest football stadium in Mexico and one of the biggest in the world. It houses the Mexican National Team as well as Mexican football team Club America. If you get the chance to watch a game, I urge you not to miss it. I have barely been to a place with so much passion. The fans live for the sport and you can definitely feel that.

Lucha Libre (weekly wrestling like show in Arena México)

While there are many places that occasionally offer Lucha Libre shows, Arena México has shows every week. It is located in an area called Colonia Doctores, which is located east to Roma Norte and south of Zócalo. Since Doctores is not the safest area to walk around in, I would recommend going by Uber or Taxi and getting dropped off right at the entrance. Tickets usually do not sell out, but if you want better seats I suggest you to book in advance. You can buy tickets on the official website. Ticket prices are normally around 55 MXN$ per person (~ 3 US$).

Parque Chapultepec

The Chapultepec Castle is already mentioned in the article below, however, it is worth mentioning that the park surrounding it (Parque Chapultepec) is one of the best places to have a beautiful picnic with family and friends. It provides a great relaxing ambiance to enjoy your Sunday afternoon and if you are lucky you might get to watch a few birthday parties with the typical Mexican Piñatas. You do not want to miss out on that.

Please find below the above mentioned article, as it will provide you great insight with 10 more amazing places to visit:
