Tips for a Call Center Job Interview

in #tips7 years ago (edited)

The job interview gives the prospective employer a good glimpse of your skills, capabilities, and personality. When applying for a call center job, the interview also serves as the employer's way of evaluating the quality of your voice, listening skills, and ability to speak clearly.

Tips for a Call Center Job Interview

1. Come prepared. Make sure to research about the company and the product of service that it offers. You may check the company website for details. Make sure also that you know about the job of a call center agent. If the prospective employer sees that you have done your homework, he or she is likely to think that you are really serious and intent on getting the job.

2. Take stock of your skills and abilities. Your answers during the interview should match your declaration in your resume, so be sure to review what you have written there. Take note that most call center companies would be asking you about pertinent skills and knowledge which may include the following:

  • Customer relationship principles
  • Typing / keyboard (usually with a typing speed of over 30 words per minute)
  • Numeric, oral, and written language applications
  • Knowledge of relevant software applications
  • Administrative procedures and information processing
  • Basic computer and technological knowledge

3. List possible questions and practice the answers to them. Be ready to answer questions related to the following:

  • Teamwork
  • Stress management
  • Problem-solving and judgment skills
  • Learning skills
  • Persuasiveness

4. Be confident. Do not get easily intimidated but try also not to intimidate. Be confident but not boastful. Look at your interviewer in the eye and be mindful of what you do with your hands and other parts of your body. Gestures give indication of how confident or how nervous you are during an interview.

5. Mind your speech. Make sure you speak in a well-modulated voice. Speak clearly and do not talk too fast. Remember also that your interviewer will be highly critical of your grammar and pronunciation.
