What is something you noticed in Avengers: Infinity War that you believe others have missed?

THOR ASKED HEIMDALL TO SEND HULK TO EARTH!

Heimdall did not make the decision to send HULK to Earth unilaterally. It was Thor.

There is no evidence of Heimdall’s thought process, what he thinks is the best option, precedence of what he knows. All other theories try to explain Heimdalls motivations are tenuous at best and frankly just made up, but as I lay out this was not Heimdall’s decision. You tell me what makes more sense. At least I lay out evidence, believable explanations, and don’t require you to know information that has never been brought up in the cinematic MCU.

This one was obvious to me. Sometimes I feel worried that people can conjure some strange and pretty extravagant theories when there are simpler explanations that seem to fit.

We all remember from THOR: RAGNAROK that Heimdall and Thor can communicate telepathically, right?

Here: See Thor’s yellow eyes, he is linked with Heimdall.

In this below scene. Thor and Heimdall aren’t actually together, Thor is in Hulk’s Champion’s Suite and Heimdall is in Asgard.

BFF’S

Now that we set the precedent of telepathic communication between Heimdall and Thor. Tell me what you think is happening in the below scenes.

Lets use some evidence that we can all watch again and decide for ourselves: Remember the producers don’t necessarily expect the audience to come up with their own explanations when developing major plot points, they want to at least suggest motivations for scenes they spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to shoot.

Here, Hulk and Thor were just defeated by Thanos, immediately after, Heimdall looks at Thor.

I’m assuming at this moment, Heimdall hears Thor’s voice in his head.

“Heimdall, can you hear me” (Telepathically)

Below is Thor’s following Reaction.

“I need you to send the Green Monster to the Wizard on Earth”

( Telepathically)

They have this moment, seems like a lot of people missed it. Either, telepathically, Thor is telling Heimdall to send the Hulk to Earth, or they both understand, and Thor is giving Heimdall the “DO IT” signal, either because they have discussed it prior or it makes the most sense to both of them.

Don’t believe me watch again with this thought in mind. Ever had silent communications with a best friend. What does that look like?

Heimdall with his undying loyalty and confidence in his King, does as Thor ASKS

It’s almost like the writers, and directors included this scene for a reason (cough cough Sarcasm) . What do you think it is? Remember in plot development in movies, especially marvel, every scene is meant to either further the plot or provide entertainment. Since this scene is not really entertaining, wonder what it has to do with the plot? TO EXPLAIN WHY HEIMDALL SENDS HULK TO EARTH! The purpose it serves to the writers is to parallel the scene in the comics where Silver Surfer warns of Thanos by crashing into Dr. Strange, it also serves to bring Banner from the saga of Ragnarok and depths of space back to Earth’s Avengers.

Why would Thor want to send the HULK? Another obvious answer to ME.

The Hulk is a messenger and a friend and ally of Thor’s. Thor has just been incapacitated by Thanos, Asgard is destroyed and the Black Order is on a mission to collect the Stones. Where are two stones hidden? EARTH, one being in one of the most powerful defenders in the MCU, Vision and the Mind Stone, and the other in another powerful defender, Dr. Strange and the Time stone. So why not warn Earth about the impending peril, why not warn Dr, Strange, Tony Stark, Vision, and all the Avengers, about what is heading their way. Thor understands their strength, and has very few allies left with the abilities to defeat Thanos.

BUT WHY SEND HULK AND NOT THOR?

First, Thor has a chance to save a fellow friend, and powerful Ally. Thor is goodand would gladly sacrifice himself as he has shown time and time again to save his friends. This alone could suffice for an explanation.

Second, Thor knows he is a God with nigh invulnerability. While, Hulk is in fact Immortal as well, Thor isn’t 100 percent of this and therefore worries about his friends fate, He(“Thor not Heimdall”) is more concerned about Hulk dying in the vastness of space than he is worried about the Hulk dying during transport in the Bifrost.

Lastly, Banner is also an Avenger, a friend, and a trustworthy messenger that the rest of the Avengers will not question the truth when Banner needs to explain the coming situation.

If you had to choose someone to warn the Avengers who would you send, Banner or Loki? Easy enough. There is no one else left.( Remember Thor’s choosing not Heimdall)

Plus this just happened:

Screw that guy! Would you send him to safety after he did this to you.

In summary, Thor asked Heimdall to send the Hulk in that moment when the Hulk was defeated by Thanos, because Thor knows he needs to relay the message to earth in order to bolster their defenses and also to save his friend. Heimdall did as his King commanded him to, as his best friend asked him to, and because he could see why this was a better choice than trying to save his best friend.

Heimdall is not the one who decided to save the Hulk or Thor. IT WAS THOR WHO DECIDED TO SAVE THE HULK.

For those who are playing at home and are reading these other theories. There are so much in those other theories that no one could possibly know. Why do people insist on creating far fetched idea’s that are not even suggested in the movie. I mean c’mon guys, watch the movie, pay attention to the scenes. Marvel tries to do a good job of conveying meaningful scenes. If you can’t base your explanation on previous plot points or suggested precedents, then please answer these on fan blogs where these assanine fan theories have a home, not Quora that makes its basis of its quality of answers on logical reasoning, evidence, and attempt at real honesty. I apologize for the rant but man reading some of these answers is what spurred me to write this one.

All the other answer’s don’t even acknowledge these two very important and explaining scenes as if this scene:

weren’t immediately after this scene:]

Don’t you get the feeling Thor is saying “DO IT” or “ YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO”

His jaw goes from relaxed to thrusting forward as to convey a command maybe telepathically or through simple body language.
