RE: Oceans Plastic Free in Years instead of Millennia: Is This Possible?

in #theoceancleanup8 years ago

This intrigues me because I know plastic can be sold to recycling centers. Maybe is cheaper for them to just get rid of it. Anyway, most likely some species will develop recycling capabilities and then we'll have to sustain pollution to conserve those species. hehe

Sort:

In Italy around Naples waste, including all the plastics, are put into caves, as well as it is mixed with concrete used to build new buildings/constructions. In the past (80s/90s) the recycle waste in Germany was transported to eastern part of Germany to end up on big piles of waste, unprocessed. I guess, deposit waste like that is more economical then actually recycling since this cost money.

I hope it's a slow breakdown plastic :)

Well, it is waste with toxix chemicals in it. This is now in buildings. Can you imagine what this may do to the health of the people living/working in such buildings? The mafia is behind all of this, and they have only money in mind.

Good point, though I was thinking at the structure resistance.
