A diary I never wished to write… but silence is not an option.

I’ve been staring at the screen for the past few minutes...
I am practicing restraint.
Yes, restraint.

There’s so much I want to write—so much to say, to scream, to express.
But I will hold back. For now.

If you’re not living under a rock, you must already be aware of the escalating war situation between Pakistan and India.
I’m not a political person—so much so that I’ve never even voted.
Some might say that’s irresponsible, and maybe it is. But I’ve never felt any alignment with a particular political party, so I’ve stayed away.

These past few days... we watched hell break loose.

You may have noticed my absence from Steemit.
Here’s why.

It’s because of the enemy who disrupted our peace — yes, I will now call them that openly, because the illusion is over — that showed us the hatred brewing in their hearts.
It wasn’t from the fringe anymore.
It wasn’t just trolls or extremists.
It came from their average citizens, their mainstream media, the so-called “normal” people.

I will never forget the venom that was so proudly poured onto us Pakistanis. Never.
And death—yes, we saw that up close.
Right in front of our eyes.

It started with a horrific incident across the border, some 400 km away from us.
A terrorist attack on innocent tourists.
And instantly — without investigation, without dialogue — fingers were pointed at Pakistan.
A country that has itself been a victim of terrorism for decades.
A country that continues to battle this war day in and day out, even as I write these words. There was this recent Jaffar Express train hijacking incident in Balochistan Pakistan just in March of 2025...

Even while we were engaged in conflict with them... We were also combating the terrorism in different parts of the country...

So yes, we are well aware how this feels. We sympathise with the victims wholeheartedly. Pakistan immediately volunteered for an international, unbiased investigation.
We said, Let’s talk. Let's have bilateral talks...
But the answer was:
No
No
No

We could have a dialogue, or involve a third neutral party — let’s resolve this. You’ll have our unconditional support.

And the response was: Rejection. Escalation.

  • Borders closed
  • Pakistanis deported
  • The Indus Waters Treaty suspended
  • Hatred, hatred, hatred campaigns...
  • Media on the loose

Then came their so called operation.

They launched a strike from across the border, targeting what they claimed was a “terror pad.”
What did they actually hit with their missiles?
A mosque.
They killed innocent women and children.
It was a complete show of naked aggression.

They provoked tensions along the Line of Control.
And even then, we showed restraint.
We acted only in self-defense. We countered them in aerial combat.

I won’t claim who won or lost.
That’s not my focus.

But what happened next was beyond comprehension.
They attacked our military bases.
In the dead of night.

With ballistic missiles, one after the other — on May 10, 2025.

Yes — ballistic missiles.
And yet, they thought we would stay silent?

Why should we? Of course we would retaliate — and we did! They saw our counterattack. So did The world.

And while their war-mongering media kept fueling the flames,
we stood our ground.

We retaliated with all our might.
As is our right.
To protect the sovereignty of this country.

ISLAMABAD: After demonstrating restraint in the face of blatant Indian aggression since Wednesday, Pakistan launched strikes early Saturday morning targeting military installations in India and India-held Kashmir.

These actions are being carried out in response to India’s initial attack, which was an assault on our homeland, people, and sovereignty.

According to the United Nations Charter, the right to self-defense is articulated in Article 51, which states:

"Nothing in the present Charter shall impair the inherent right of individual or collective self-defence if an armed attack occurs against a Member of the United Nations, until the Security Council has taken measures necessary to maintain international peace and security..."

So, self-defense in response to an armed attack is recognized as an inherent right of a sovereign nation under Article 51 of the UN Charter.

This means if a country is attacked, it has the right to defend itself—even with military force—until the UN Security Council steps in to manage the situation.

As of now, there is a ceasefire in place—mediated by several international players, most notably the United States under President Trump.

And us?
We're still recovering from the fact that it really happened.
It wasn’t a nightmare or some twisted social media simulation.
We lived it. We survived it.

Wishing everyone peaceful skies today and always!
@o1eh, I kept thinking about you...

Do not spam my comments with debates about who won or lost.
Do not bring provocations or anything that might compel me to mute you.

If you need clarity, do your own research.
And have the basic sense to distinguish truth from propaganda.

This is what I saw.
This is what I felt.
And this is what I needed to say.

Peace over War!
Long Live Pakistan!

Sort:

I have thought about you so often over the last few days, I was simply stunned and speechless.
The speechlessness remains, I can say no more than to confirm my deepest support in my heart.
Take care of yourselves, stay healthy!
Lots of strength and love - to you, your family, Hira and her family and all the Pakistani mates I know!
PEACE!

Thank you so much—your words mean a lot to us.

We truly hope for peace, and for all of this to be over soon.
Our strength lies in resilience, unity, and the hope that better days are ahead.

We need PEACE over WAR.

We need PEACE over WAR.

THE topic that has existed for as long as mankind has existed. THE theme that every prophet of every religion has tirelessly preached. Why is it that nobody believe(d)s them, why is it that we d(id)on't learn anything?
You can do it! Humanity will make it in the end!
Once again, all the best. All the best to all people who live in fear because of war, for which they personally (regardless of nationality) are not at all responsible!

I feel like I'm not the same person anymore.

I won't be exaggerating if I say I have lost interest in pretty much everything. I haven't slept properly ever since. Maybe the shock is still too fresh.

Long Live Pakistan 🇵🇰

Of course!
It's but human.
We are mourning the losses of lives at both sides of the border...
But they are still high on something. They are still not happy with the ceasefire... This much war mongering through media... It's insane. What a criminal use of mainstream media. For what?

I was wondering when any of you ladies would comment on what happened and I really hoped you were far away from this situation, but how could you, since you are within this country. 😢 To me personally, all the wars that have happened in recent years smell from afar like a deliberate provocation to start a war. They are so absurd, ugly and illogical that they seem as if their beginning was staged so that it could simply start.
There was a discussion recently under my post about human nature because I claim it is evil and it became a question of how lucky we are that psychopaths are only 1-2% of the population. However, now it turns out that this minority is actually the most important on this planet, because ordinary people do not want war. The media is not ordinary people. The media are skillfully orchestrated tools for manipulating the human brain and directing people's consciousness in one direction or another. Under the leadership of 1-2% of people who are the beneficiaries of all the troubles of humanity.
Okay, I don't want to contradict you or upset you. I wish you strength to overcome all of this on a personal level, as well as hope that common sense will prevail and all of this will stop very soon.🙏❤️

Hi friend,
I agree with you—what you said makes sense. It does seem like this was a deliberate attempt to provoke conflict. Whoever was behind it has let humanity down. A war between two nuclear-armed nations? That’s deeply concerning. And on what grounds? There’s no clear evidence or credible proof being presented.

It comes across as arrogance—using aggression for political leverage. It raises many questions.

As I’ve mentioned, I’m not someone who usually engages in political discussions. But this situation? It’s hard not to notice what’s going on. Even an outsider could see through it.

I’m not trying to convince anyone. I don’t even follow the news regularly.
But recently… I’ve ended up watching more than I usually do.

Our news channels were blocked there, but theirs weren’t.
Still, I couldn’t find many balanced or moderate voices on their side.
You’re right about the media—it does seem heavily influenced and curated.

Their journalism felt more like a performance than reporting. I may be expressing more than I intended, but I have to say—while you mentioned that only a small percentage of people show the worst sides of humanity, it felt like that percentage was significantly higher there.

The comments I saw under news posts were extremely harsh and full of hostility. Most of them talked about erasing Pakistan entirely. As if!

Thank you for thinking about us. Really means a lot. Love and hugs.

I sincerely hope that your war will not cross the line where it can no longer be stopped. No one should live in fear. I wish you strength! Stay safe!

I wish you peace! I wish peace to every Pakistani and every Indian, every Ukrainian and every Russian, every Israeli and every Palestinian, I wish peace to all people! War is not waged between people, but between political interests. We tend all too easily to allow ourselves to be abused for this purpose... Stay safe!

Thank you, @weisser-rabe, for wishing peace upon us. Our people are certainly welcoming this mediation, and we truly hope it succeeds…

But

With all due respect, I must say that the definition of “peace” seems very different on the other side.
For them, peace appears to mean bullying us into submission—or worse, seeking our complete eradication.

As I clearly mentioned at the beginning of my post, I am not a political person. And until recently, I had been living under the illusion of neighborly goodwill.

But these past few days have revealed a level of hostility and irrationality that left me truly baffled.

What struck me the most was how visibly upset their media seemed with the announcement of a ceasefire.
Why such disappointment? It felt as though they didn’t want the conflict to end until they had inflicted irreversible damage—God forbid.

It makes one question: what kind of mindset, what kind of government, responds this way to de-escalation?

War is not waged between people, but between political interests.

Absolutely. Agreed!

You hit on a good point: anyone who tries to somehow define, interpret, interpret ‘peace’... doesn't really want it. Peace is universal: the renunciation of all violence.

Of course, we Muslims want peace, not war. But if anyone looks at our country with a dirty eye, he will have to suffer a terrible end. Our Lord is protecting our country. We pray to Allah that Allah protects our country as well as the innocent children and Muslims of Gaza, Ameen.

so actually you are saying you go into war. Kind of sad all those wars in the world. I wonder if that also counts for all those countries with an invasion of foreigners who look with a dirty eye at the culture of those who are welcoming them.
It's good to see you and I hope you and your loved ones will be safe.

We still prefer peace not war. Our mosque have been attacked, innocent children have been martyred and in response our military pilots have infiltrated the enemy's country and destroyed their bases. Salute to our Pak Army who destroyed the enemy's fronts instead of attacking innocent people.
Due to the bravery and wisdom of our army, the enemy has been forced to ceasefire. We pray to Allah to destroy those who are destroying the peace of our country, Ameen.
