The Diary Game: 6th October 2021 - Cooking With Kids (Apple Donuts)
Hello Steemians!
Hope you are all feeling well today. My ankle is a bit hurt due to my park outing yesterday. I had a previous ankle injury a few months back, so whenever I use my ankle too much (such as jogging or walking downhill too fast), I will have that uncomfortable feeling at my ankle. It is really frustrating because I love going outdoors with my child (so you can imagine that sometimes running is necessary), but I guess you just have to live happily with whatever situation you are in and not think too much about it :)
And so, I decided to have a break from the outdoors today. Usually, when I'm having a break from the outdoors, I will do some cooking together with my child. My child is such a kinesthetic learner, he needs to move in order to learn and be happy!
My son insisted for me to buy donuts for breakfast. But after negotiating, we ended up making Apple Donuts instead. I am so happy, because it is healthy (it is really made from fresh apples!) and without all the process sugars added (except for the sprinkles). The frosting is made of cream cheese, so I am relieved that he is also having his source of calcium, protein and vitamins!
Sorry for the poor lighting. I really didn't have much time to take the picture, because my preschooler was literally about to touch the toppings of the Apple Donuts! Looks like real donuts from above, eh? But believe me, those are apple rings, with whipped cream cheese spread, and topped with sprinkles! Looks can be very deceiving, and so my preschooler ate all of them. Yes, all. He even asked for a second serving.
After having our breakfast, I listed down some groceries that I will need to top up. I was planning to do some grocery shopping today, but I guess because of my ankle, I just want to give it a rest. Probably will plan for the next day.
I then enquired a few kindergartens on their fees. I am planning to enroll my preschooler for kindergarten next year, but let's just see the progress of COVID-19. I have no problem with homeschooling him (I have been homeschooling / roadschooling and setting up playdates for him up till now), but I just want him to experience the kindergarten settings if things are better. He is such an extrovert, he looked forward to seeing friends at school soon!
After doing a lot of thinking, my tummy was hungry again, so I defrost and reheat my frozen Black Bean Soup for lunch. I always cook a big batch of Black Bean Soup over the weekend and freeze them to be reheated during the weekdays. To me, Black Bean Soup makes a very filling lunch! My preschooler enjoyed sipping the soup too. He had eaten rice before that, so he was not really hungry and just had some few sips of the soup.
Then, I fed my creative side by watching an episode of a Korean drama (OK, maybe a few episodes). To me, even watching dramas is not something wasteful. I believe it helps with my storytelling, just like reading a book! Just as writers need to read to enhance their writing, watching dramas will also enhance the creative mind. :)
Then, I start to work. Work for me is writing and creating contents. Either for clients, for myself on blogs and social media, and even here on Steemit. And adding to that now, is gaming. Now I am at the research stage of building my Axie team, but soon, I'll be playing it and treating that as one of my daily routines. I am so looking forward to that!
And now I am about to take a break, eating Moist Chocolate Cake that I made a few days back. As usual, cooking a big batch on weekends to be eaten on weekdays. That's like my life motto right now :p
That's about it for today. See you in the next post!
