The Diary Game||14-07-2025||NAPTIP &CHARITY CDS Group Traffic Control

Hello fellow Steemians!!

As a corp member, there are certain expectations the NYSC scheme has of us, as the "S" in NYSC stands for service, and serve we must, not just because we are compelled to, but, willingly and joyfully.

Today our CDS group: Naptip and Charity, collaborated with Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to help Motorists navigate traffic easily, especially as Mondays are always very busy. This project is mobilized as a way of giving back to our community as Corp members.

Community development services are projects that are of benefit to the host community. They are different types of community development service, ranging from personal community development service to group community development service.

Every Corp member is expected to participate in one form of CDS, as it is expected that they should be able to impact and give back to their host community. In the Local Government which i am serving, various CDS groups exist, which includes: Charity and Naptip, Collaborating, Gender, Education, Special CDS, etc. I belong to NAPTIP CDS , and we align ourselves with Charity CDS group and come up with projects which we can execute in our host community to further make an impact in our community.

The Theme for this weeks project was : "Helping Community Motororist Navigate Traffic Easily ".
And our goal was to successfully control the traffic in a busy area. In a bid to succeed, we collaborated with Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to help them control the busy early morning monday traffic that normally disturbs at Fagba junction, Ifako Ijiaye Local Government in Lagos state.

As a major junction connecting different major roads, the traffic in that area is usually hectic. Without the help of the LASTMA officials it may lead to major fatalities and delays from getting to work. The LASTMA officials usually do a good work curbing this traffic, but as a CDS group, we came together and agreed to try to help control the traffic once or twice a month.

The traffic control kicked off when corp members present were spilt into a group of five people. And each group taking their turns, we spread out to different assigned areas in the junction and helped to guide motorist on where to go to.

This event not only helped motorist and road users in our community, but also left a lasting impression on passer-by to see the unity and love to serve, we, as corpers emanated, by coming out in our huge numbers to support the work.

We also had fun while at it, making memories among friends and as a group. Indeed i look forward to joining my group to execute more projects to better help the community in which we are serving.
