Two days ago in a press conference, Aston Martin unveiled it's new truly Astonishing project.
In a creative collaboration with Triton - manufacturer of submarines - companies will create an exclusive, work-of-art, strictly limited edition submersible vehicle that could take virtually anyone onto o deep-sea adventure, or heartbreaking sightseeing around dying coral reefs.

Project Neptune marries Triton’s diving and operational expertise with Aston Martin’s design, materials, and craftsmanship. Overseen by Aston Martin Consulting, the partnership has shaped a unique concept that will lead to an exclusive, strictly-limited edition vehicle.

We don't know any technicals yet, but there is a concept design and portfolios of both companies to give us some hints.

Triton has unparalleled expertise in the design, manufacture and operation of submersibles for researchers, explorers and superyacht owners. Founded in Florida by L. Bruce Jones and Patrick Lahey, the team at Triton are committed to producing the safest and best performing, deep-diving submersibles in the world.

Will this catch?

This is the very first vehicle of it's kind - Luxury personal submarine. Like with most technologies they cost a lot and are hard to acquire in the beginning. But as the idea gets popularized competition grows and prices dwindle. Perhaps in couple of years Toyota and Peugeot will offer something similar in more economical price-range.

It's a very extravagant technology but so were color displays. At the same time we're developing space technologies that could allow us to easily withstand even deep-sea conditions. Maybe one day those combined will contribute to colonization of the sea-bed.
