Textura : The Braille Smartphone for Visually Impaired.

in #technology7 years ago

It's 2017, we have smartphones with such amazing features that one might have never thought of but smartphones for the blind is one area that remains completely untouched. Touchscreen phones exists in the market for quite some time now, they are simple and easy to use for the people with full sight but it is next to impossible for a blind person to use them.

To solve this problem, designer Isa Velarde has come up with a phone that incorporates a Braille screen interface. The Braille screen takes data from the processor and converts it into small bumps. The blind person can feel these bumps and easily understand what is on the screen. The screen of the phone is also tactile which makes it even easier for the person to use it. The Textura phone has a sleek and stylish design which makes it as good as any other phone present in the market. It also comes with the headphone jack which enables the people to use the voice assistance and have personalized audio feedback.

You can hope to see much more advancement in this field in the future, which will make life easier for the visually impaired people coz this is just the starting phase.

This is amazing! I had no idea that technology such as this existed, and it's about time it did! In addition to this product, I know that OrCam has some helpful technology as well, such as their ocr glasses. They're an assistive technology for visually impaired that help blind and visually impaired to read, recognize faces/brands and more. Definitely one of the best low vision aids on the market thus far, but I'm so glad to see that more and more options are developing for those who need it, such as this option. It sounds incredible, so thanks so much for sharing this!
