Can Technology Predict the Near Future

Microsoft believes that in the future, everyone will become a boss because of advancements in artificial intelligence. The company predicts a new kind of business called "edge firms," where people will oversee autonomous AI agents that handle different tasks.

As these AI agents become more common in workplaces, more people will take on the role of boss. They will create, assign, and manage these AI tools. This means individuals will need to think like startup leaders.

The company expects that within five years, all organizations aiming to lead will succeed. By then, AI agents will be based on the idea of "intelligence on demand," which will make them more capable and independent than current versions.

These companies will be more agile and quick to change. They will be able to grow and adapt faster than before.

The rise of AI bosses will happen in three steps. First, each worker will have an AI helper. Next, these agents will work with teams as "digital coworkers," completing specific tasks. Finally, people will start handing off complex processes to AI.

For instance, in supply chain work, AI will handle all the logistics from start to finish. Humans will only need to check the work and talk with suppliers when needed.
