I tried. The music player doesn't seem to follow symlinks. It could be that the music player is sandboxed, and it doesn't have permissions to look outside the users home directory. I've had that issue with snap packages on Ubuntu, and I would imagine that flatpaks (what Deepin uses for some of their software distribution) have similar security measures.

Might be able to strong arm the device with the mount command temporarily used with root's sudo command.

That might work! Maybe I can use something like OverlayFS to merge the file systems. Of course I could just install another music player and call it good.

As far as a solution, the jury is still out. It works great for my TV setup. Though there are a few other distributions I want to give a proper shake before I call a winner.
