Hey guys! so i've been posting a lot about javascript and i haven't really had the chance to talk about the foundation of javscript and all of it's basic concepts for those who have little or no knowledge about the javascript language.

In this post i will start by explaining what javascript is what id does and how to use it, I will be making these posts in series because of the broadness of javascript in which every post i will talk about one component of javasript so prepare for a long series of posts.

During the course of this tutorials i will use terms that you might no have heard before and i might even use acronymms for some terms that are long to type (like i might use js instead of javascript) so i urge you to make some research about them and learn more about javascript, There are many resources to lean js (see what i did there), And now to let's get down to the basics of js.

What is JavaScript?

JavaScript is a programming language that is used as a part of web pages i.e it is used to build web pages, It is an interpreted language with object-oriented capabilities. JavaScipt was first referred to as LiveScript but then it was changed to JavaScript because of all the excitement generated by Java (an entirely different language that has nothing to Javascript). Javascript is one of three core web development languages along with HTML and CSS, I assume you all should be familiar with the two previously stated languages because they are intertwined with JS without one the web page would just be meaningless and ugly, If your not familiar with these languages then no worries i'll try my best to explain along the way.

Where is Javascript?

JS is everywhere, It can be found on the beautiful and intelligent websites you visit everyday, it's in our phones i.e JS can be used to make mobile apps, It is even on our servers, with the help of the numeraous JS frameworks that have come along these years, JS can be used for many aspects of programming. But for the purpose of the tutorials we shall only be focusing on the client-side Javascript (the one that you and i can see working in our web pages).

Advantages of JS.

  • Increased User Experiences - with JS working the magic on your websites, your user will have a good interaction with your website because of JS.
  • Immediate feedback - Because of the power of JS it is possible to check the contents of a form before it is sent to the servers to see if the correct details have been sent.
  • Lesser server load - Js can reduce the load on our servers because of it's validation capabilities, there's no need to send information to the servers for validation, Js will vaildate before sending them finally to the servers for storage.

I'll have to pause here today, In my next post i'll be discussing tools for developing with JS. Stay tuned!.

Thank you for your review, @portugalcoin!

You have a minor misspelling in the following sentence:

JavaScipt was first refered to as LiveScript but then it was changed to JavaScript because of all the excitement generated by Java (an entirely different language that has nothing to Javascript).
It should be referred instead of refered.
