Porsche Korea introduced its new Kaien, which is reborn as the third generation. The new car, which was introduced as the world Premier at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show and received keen attention from the public, has been reborn as a completely new model by applying various high-tech technologies to the right place. It looked at four new technologies that have been introduced in the new Caien.
One. The New V6 & V8 Turbo Engine
Power performance of V6 & V8 turbo engine, which is a lineup of new Kaien engines, has improved. This is thanks to the Central Turbo Layout, which was introduced through the second generation Panamera. Powerful forces created by engines and transmissions are distributed to front and rear axles through Porsche traction management. Note that this system is based on a fully variable electronic four-wheel drive system and serves as the basis for both on and off road stability.
Two World's First Tungsten Coated Brake Disc
It is a remarkable new technology. Called PSCB, the brake disc is characterized by a coating of Tungsten on the surface of the disc, which is equivalent to the strength of a diamond. Porsche explains that strong braking is basic and dust can be drastically reduced. The highly heat-resistant Tungsten maintains a certain level of braking force during repeated rapid braking or full braking, to support dynamic driving. PSCB fills up between PCCB, which is a top product for Porsche Brake Line Up, and a sub-product Greycast Iron Disc and is installed in Kaien Turbo, which is a top-end trim. It can be added as an option in Caien and Kaien S. The price is 4.2 million won.
Three New body with less weight and greater stiffness
The body has been completely renewed. Most of the new Kaien skeleton is made of aluminum. This enabled compatibility of light weight with strong stiffness. In the case of the exterior panels, all of them are made up of aluminium except for the front and rear bumpers. The weight of the new car was 392 kilograms before painting, which was 22 kilograms less than the old one. The reduction in body weight addresses the weight gain due to new features and options, and the increase in body stiffness meets both performance and safety.
Four SUV's first variable roof spoiler
For the first time, the new Caien has a variable roof spoiler. This feature to improve high speed stability is applicable to the Kaien turbo model only, and generates additional rear downforce to contribute to stable movement. The roof spoiler provides five modes, folds in echo mode and deploys at high speed. In addition, during a sudden brake, the air brake is deployed to aid rapid braking.
