Artificial Intelligence is VERY important but it's Controlled by a Few Hands

in #technology6 years ago (edited)

Artificial intelligence is around us and its importance is growing day by day. AI is undoubtedly the most important technology in development. Much of the advancement in artificial intelligence relies on data that must be consumed for algorithmic advancement. Currently, access to large volumes of data remains in the control of a few tech giants. Leaving a few companies to control the direction of the advancement of the most important technology is dangerous.

It’s imperative that access to high-quality data becomes easier to access. This can usher a movement for small firms—even individuals—to have an active mark in the development of artificial intelligence. There are two aspects of achieving this. First, access to data must be open; then it must be easy to strain out the quality data from the undesirable data.

Quadrant Protocol Paves the Way

A new blockchain-powered project aims to empower small companies and even individuals to advance AI technology. Quadrant acts as a transformative layer that decentralizes the current data ecosystem. The Protocol decentralizes data hubs and allows anyone to actively add to the data maret while being able to stamp their work. This makes it possible for anyone to provide data to the entire data ecosystem and then anyone has the ability to access that data. However, AI advancement needs large volume of quality data. Machine learning, a major subsection of artificial intelligence, requires a constant feed of high-quality data in order to ensure the algorithms being developed are functional enough to provide successful results to the users.

Quadrant incentivizes participants in the ecosystem to strain out quality data sources and to packet their provision. As a result, it becomes easy to readily access large volumes of high-quality data. Quadrant’s main goal is to build a system that can provide final data products. So, those who buy data packets can continue with Quadrant’s value cycle and sell or lease the data-powered products they produce. This makes it possible for anyone or any entity to access quality data with ease and convenience as someone else is handling that specialized labor work. Additionally, it makes it possible for anyone or any entity to recoup the expenses needed to acquire the quality data by selling or leasing its data-powered product on Quadrant.

By making it easy to acquire large volumes of high-quality data and then providing the means to draw an income from the product developed from that data, Quadrant Protocol removes the cost and time barriers that have kept the AI market an exclusive field for the largest tech firms.

By overt design AI is handled by few. Even the quiet chatter of government officials and conglomerate heads make a thunderous sound on this topic. They even seem a half step away in banning the public from developing AI the way some leaders have felt about public blockchains.

Your statement stresses on the importance of decentralizing AI development. Governments would never approve entities to print their own currency, but look at Bitcoin.

The standard authority's decision is to go for the snake's head, but what if it's a hydra? Decentralized AI development is of paramount importance.

**voted for allignment

but what if it's a hydra?

I love the way you compared it! :) nice

Go Joe!

So if hydra truly refers to what its name indicates, why then are G.I.Joes uniquely dressed while Hydra personnel would wear the same tie even?

I jest. Good analogy. Inspired the following idea...
...what if each of the 50 independent states of America had their own cryptocurrencies. Security from the federal government could be that state currency would be advantageous for state made goods. However, for international and cross state purchases, a true market for state coins could fuel free enterprise.

Haha loved that G.I. Joe reference!

I feel if states have a "dedicated" cryptocurrency, then it isn't really decentralized, right?
More Ripple?

I concur, I suppose my statement would better serve a spying G-man more than independent business owners.
:)

Really though, I was looking at it in the form of logistics of a national digital ledger that would satisfy the U.S. Constitution.

Seriously @machnbirdsparo? Are there any talks already about banning the public from developing their AI? that would affect badly all AI related projects on crypto (DBC, Effect.ai, singularity etc).

Damn.

I am curious to hear more on this too. Though, I expect a Malta effect to occur if this is true. Crypto trade was made difficult by governments; Malta stepped in to profit.

If governments chop off individualized development of AI, another Malta would step in to soak the profits.

hi @hatu

that make sense. goverments can act localy but technology is moving forward globally.

Yes, the developing nations are certainly picking up--one of the good aspects of globalization.

My hope is here as well- raising the floor of the developing world.

Eyes on a flatter world, in terms of access to opportunity.

I dream of a day where the lottery of birth does not define a person's reach.

No specific talks that I am aware of, but the discouragement is certainly there. It is more a feel for the information that I came across after researching a few articles.

What opened my eyes was Explainable AI.
I searched for quite a while to find another project beside DARPA developing this tech. It is supposedly the next AI breakthrough (non-blockchain).

So while my words may seem as shooting from the hip (even as much as one would from the Wild West), at the speed of innovation and at this level of business, there is no other way to try and keep pace - see Trump (and even low key "W") as a reference. This means recognizing that injuries will occur like American football and Rugby, rather than, futball.

Please share your insight on new projects that involve programming innovations specific for AI. Also, if you here anything about AI regulation.

Hi @machnbirdsparo

I've never heard about Explainable AI. Gonna do some research about it now. big thx! as always sharing with us amazing informations

Your explanation make perfect sense.

Please share your insight on new projects that involve programming innovations specific for AI. Also, if you here anything about AI regulation.

I will. If I ever hear anything meaningful I will definetly share with you.

Piotr

I will look into Explainable AI, sounds like an interesting project.

There are plenty of blockchain projects on AI and I do write on them frequently. Stick around and we'll likely be discussing a new project soon. :)

hi @hatu

Thank you for letting me know about your AI related post. Great piece of work and easy read. Obviously upvoted.

AI is undoubtedly the most important technology in development.

Funny enough most "regular people" dont seem to even realize what's happening and they are not aware of current technology developments. But definetly those who are aware seem to be sharing many worries and concerns.

It’s imperative that access to high-quality data becomes easier to access.

I actually thought that DeepBrain Chain, Effect.ai and Singularity are trying to solve this problem by creating marketplace build on blockchain where companies will be able to trade datas between each other.

I've never heard about Quadrant Protocol before. Im glad you mentioned about it. Definetly will dig in a little bit more.

Yours
Piotr

I have more of a cautious optimism towards AI. The world would be--should be--a better place with advanced AI integrations all around.

Though, the advancement needs public awareness; that's the elephant in the room.

and again I agree with you @hatu

I strongly believe that lack awarness is our biggest problem

Sure we have movies fantasizing about AI, but it would be good to have some real common discourse about such a globally altering innovation before its implemented.

How is that elephant stealing Jerry's cheese?

I think the commonplace discussion you hope for would need public interest to be sparked at a wide scale. What better way to do that than money?

Projects like Quadrant make it possible for more people to make money from the massive data market, and that could, over time, draw in more people's organic interest towards AI (and data).

I am all for small business enterprises like Quadrant. I believe we, the world, should do a lot more to disassemble monopolies, and even conglomerates, with the caveat that all born on the earth be reserved a dedicated small business canvas on a blockchain. If civilization is not truly possible, then let death by competition at least be founded on intelligence and/or creativity.

Great said sir Artificial intelligence is future biggest companies like IBM etc working on AI projects they know its the future

IBM isn't alone in this. All tech giants have dedicated plenty of R&D to AI advancement.
