Lucerne #2: Museum of Transport - Media World

in #technology7 years ago (edited)

Yesterday, I introduced you to the automobile center of the Museum of Transport in Lucerne.

Today, you will learn more about its...

Today, we had a rainy day in Lucerne, yet it was my turn to spend the day with my little Olivia. So, I decided to go to the Museum of Transport`s Media World. This is in the 1st floor of their main building next to the entrance. It is actually not only a great place for kids but for us video game lovers as well :D

Directly at the beginning you can use a real flight simulator with a VR headset and controller:

If you prefer alpine skiing you can experience that with your VR headset as well:

Obviously, a 3-year-old is too young for that. But I love this section :D

Next you can study the history of television on a wide wall from in the 30s until today:

Now, the kids have a great time as they can actually produce, record and cut their own news broadcast.

You can literally take the video back home and save it on your phone or laptop:

The next room shows the future of school learning where the little ones can draft, paint and write on a media wall. Olivia loves to spend hours painting at this place :)

Her favourite place, though, is a green screen interactive video studio where you can record funny videos, use a green cape to "disappear" like in Harry Potter and take your video home as well:

For me, the next section is interesting where they show an ordinary day of 4 completely different people and how they comsume media - reading books or newspapers, using phones, laptops, iPods, watching TV and chatting with their friends - as well as what different people are interested in, what kind of shows they watch, what kind of games they play etc.

You leave the Media World with this tunnel which shows the information overload of the world we live in:

And if you are curious to find out how the Media Globe that you saw at the top of this article was designed and installed, watch this time-lapse video:

Whenever you come to Lucerne, a visit of the Museum of Transport is a must!
