ZTE Corporation, the world's largest provider of telecommunication solutions, together with the Japanese mobile operator SoftBank, has set a record-breaking data transmission speed.

In the commercially available pre-5G network, located in Nagasaki, Japan, transfers of 965 Mbps have been made! In the performance test conducted, 24 devices operating in the 20 MHz band were connected to the network at the same time. Thanks to the use of TDD Massive MIMO 2.0 technology, all of them downloaded data from FTP servers at an average speed of 965 Mbps. It was the first such test performed in a commercially available mobile network, not in laboratory conditions. The results achieved are not much different from previous tests carried out in the closed network in Shenzhen China. In this case, transmission speeds of up to 1.1 Gbps are achieved.

ZTE and SoftBank have thus initiated a strategic cooperation project in the area of Smart Life. This project, designed for the post-4G network and the first 5G networks, aims to develop, test and commercially deploy smart living networking solutions with operators. They are designed to facilitate the construction of next-generation smart grids, to reduce the cost of their creation and at the same time to ensure that users can freely use huge capacity. The Internet of Things, the Internet of Things, the Internet of Vehicles and fast transfer for users are priorities here.

Smart Life is a strategic project for ZTE. Over the next 3 to 5 years, we plan to design and jointly design and review with operators technical solutions and services for users in 5G / pre-5G networks, such as high bandwidth, IoT and extremely low latency. We have now started pilot cooperation with SoftBank, and the test to verify the performance of Massive MIMO technology is proof of the good direction of our project. In the future, ZTE will work with more partners to further develop the Smart Life project and improve our daily lives,"said Bai Yanmin, general manager of TDD and 5G products at ZTE.

Innovative solutions developed and built by ZTE far outperform the current LTE networks in terms of performance and bandwidth. Already today, they are ready for an avalanche increase in network traffic, allowing users and operators alike to easily and conveniently switch to the 5G technology. It is worth recalling that, according to estimates, in 2017 mobile devices will be responsible for as much as 75% of the traffic generated on the Internet, and 30 GB of new data will be added to the network in just one second. All of this means that the LTE networks currently in use are at the very heart of their capacity and may become inefficient within a few years. The new solutions are a response to the growing needs of users, but also to the rapid growth in traffic generated by the Internet of things, intelligent cars and smart homes - a reality that is increasingly present in our lives. They will also allow us to change our approach to phones, which will become screens only, because we will keep applications, games and data in the cloud.
