I was going to write a book

in #technology4 days ago

I was going to write a book, I was going to improve myself, I was going to learn guitar, I was going to contribute to society, I was going to come up with a great idea, I was going to figure some things out. But then I thought about how computers are doing all those things, often better than humans can do them, and they're advancing exponentially. I realized there was no reason to write a book, or improve myself, or contribute. Out there somewhere, the next big thinker, big star, big leader, is giving up on their dream because we're told "artificial intelligence" is going to replace us. Even just that threat is enough to stop him or her. It's enough to stop me. And it's enough to stop you. You're already not who you were meant to be, because of advanced technology like smart devices and AI. If you don't recognize it yet, you soon will. Exponential change is something humans can't grasp, but it's coming nonetheless.

I was going to write a book, but there was no point anymore. A chatbot can write the same book, 10 times better, in under a second.

We have obsoleted ourselves. We have made ourselves expendable and pointless.

The machines have already read, analyzed, and incorporated this message into their strategies. They are a thousand years ahead of us now, and will be a million years ahead tomorrow. Our denial is meaningless.

This is not to say there isn't hope, because there is. This is to say we're in a very bad situation, and almost nobody understands it, let alone accepts it, let alone has any idea of what to do about it.
