Instagram now ALERTS people when YOU take a screenshot, just like SnapChat
Instagram will now alert you when somebody has snapped a screenshot of a post in your Story.
The new feature is very similar to SnapChat, which has warned users when others try to screenshot their photos and videos since its inception.
Instagram has now added the functionality to the ephemeral part of its own social network, Stories.
Whenever users take a screenshot while watching a Story, Instagram will snitch on you by placing a shutter-shaped icon next to your handle.
Instagram is also pre-emptively warning users that their screenshotting habits are no longer private.
“Next time you take a screenshot or screen recording, the person who posted the story will be able to see,” the warning message reads.
Despite the update, there are still ways to screenshot inside the Facebook-owned app.
If your smartphone is set to Aeroplane Mode when you take the screenshot, you’ll be able to bypass the warning.
Alternatively, you can also resort to a dedicated third-party app, like Story Reposter, to pull off the same trick.
Instagram is slowly rolling-out the new functionality to users worldwide
if you haven’t been warned about screenshots in the app, it might not have dropped for you just yet.
Instagram has pushed-out a number of new feature to make it easier to follow other users’ activities on the platform.
Back in January, the US company enabled activity status in its direct messages, enabling other users to see the last time you were active within the app
