Last week in Man of Steal

in #teammalaysia7 years ago

Who is the man of steal? Some might quote "Genius, billionaire, playboy philanthropist", and I would find it tough to argue with that. But I would personally add thief, murderer, liar to his many monikers.

omg Superman is DC and Tony is Marvel what heresy (I know)

He is none other than, our (currently) extremely vocal ex prime minister (and ex finance minister) of Malaysia, Ah Jib Gor.

Fortunately for you, I am not here to summarize his long, scandalous and destructive political career. All that information is easily available to you my reader, on google. (And its highly dangerous for me to do so, since I don't feel like being murdered :P ).

For the past 2 weeks, the new government has working overtime to uncover JibGor's inappropriate use of funds, particularly in the 1MDB case and our elusive National debt.

Whilst our new government is busy fixing the damage and plugging holes, what has our favorite pillager been up to? Taking the battle to social media like any spoiled teenager would be doing of course.

Immediately after having his residences being raided of more than RM300 million in luxury goods and cash, what does he do? He proceeds to reprimand the police officers for eating chocolates out of his fridge. I mean hell, those could have been some good chocolate, and hey, I do not approve of thievery (ironic amirite). Regardless, that was a weak and irrelevant response for hundreds of millions of ringgit. Rest assured there are no lack of retorts and interesting initiatives done at his expense. Maybe he should have filed a police report?

The newly elected finance ministry uncovered (well more like revealed) an extra 50% of national debt hidden under a layer that serves nothing more than as a loophole to make the nation (or the previous government) look better on the outside, all done under the supervision of the previous finance minister (oh wait.. who was it again?). This could have been done to possibly siphon money into his own pockets, but who am I to make accusations. His response?

Now that the truth is revealed about this ‘RM1 trillion national debt’, we congratulate the new government for unnecessarily spooking the market which has led to sharp falls of our stock exchange this week

Let me read the latest news for a bit.

The fundamentals are there but we need to improve the fiscal condition ... I’m confident that after we resolve the fiscal condition, we will be even stronger...

  • Lim Guan Eng, Malaysian Finance Minister

Anyone with half a brain would be able to interpret the statement as, "yes we are knee deep in big pile of manure. but we are strong enough to overcome this and we will become even better after this is over". But you can always count on our most revered choco-phile to twist the statement, and take potshots at the newly elected government by remarking on social media sarcastically

I’m curious to know how the national economy quickly turned from what has been claimed before GE14 as an economy in crisis and a failure into a strong and solid economy now.
All this within just two weeks?

Is this the death throes of a high profile criminal? Or is it the cries of an innocent man, misunderstood by the uneducated masses, betrayed by his beloved country, slandered by his deceitful oppressors, disavowed by his loyal supporters, to take blame for something he didn't commit?

I am not an expert in PR or staying out of jail, for that matter. But continuously making a fool out of yourself on social media while an entire nation is united against their common enemy, and enraging them even further?

Not a great plan.
